The real story of evolution goes like this; we all know the story of Adam and eve, so I'll cut to the Chase . When they knew they were naked GOD made them a SKIN, and in the process of time the SKIN that HE made became BLACK because of the SUN that HE made.and so in the process or EVOLUTION of time mankinds skin color. Was according to his seeds need to live on earth, outside of the garden of Eden......this is truth you won't find in religion.

The next step in evolution for humans, is the realization of absurdity... the realization that in the end, nothing matters. All humans will die as the sun will eventually burn up (unless by that time humans have found another planet to support life) the realization that we are all the same, we all just want to be comfortable, and to be happy, and to find things in life that give us a sense of meaning or purpose... in an inherently meaningless and purposeless existence.

It will be the end of religion, the end of beliefs, the beginning of ideas... the start of a new life where everyone has the basic essentials of life (food, water, shelter)

A time where science dictates how we live life, the realization that the answers science provides are always the closest approximation to the truth (because there is no real truth) until proven right or wrong beyond reasonable doubt.

Nothing really matters in the long run, eventually this planet will die... we might as well get along and treat eachother with kindness, make sure our planet and the resources on it will last us for as long as possable before the end...

as soon as you're born you start dying, so you might as well have a good time, and help others do the same.

How does this have owt to do with evolution? cn
 
we're all complex systems of the oldest cells on the world, we adapted over billions of years into bigger systems through trial and error, survival of the fittest. only the strongest survive until they reproduce until the older species runs extinct. this repeated billions of times. we may still evolve eventually, there is mutations out there and specific gene pools that are different, not to say we are all equal but some of us possess different pigment, etc. so there still is natural selection going on, some can be born with special abilities others may not have. its basically a big ongoing process of elimination, but our continents are so spread out that one race or "species" dominate, unless it was like WWII if the nazis won.

thats just a theory, but its the most rational thing ive come to think. theres still rapid evolution occurring in the congo river i think, or some river in africa. they've found electric catfish and all sorts of crazy animals. the world changes all the time, species go extinct but other species usually take their place in the food web. were just animals, religion tries to make us seem like were different than our cats and dogs but the only difference really is our brain development. science and religion should remain separate, but for those who are ready to stop living in a fairy tale, they should educate themselves instead of praying for someones forgiveness. not to say all religions have this aspect to them, but most do.

Paleontologically rapid evolution was a sign that there was a large gap/available niche in the ecology, and instead of the usual random walk around a species-defined center (natural selection is a mix of selection by predators and sex partners, and I expect sexual selection to be the warden force behind a species' long-term stasis) a "direction" of evolutionary change became apparent. Consider the speed with which piglike creatures became the great whales, filling the niche left empty by pliosaurs and their cousin genera. Balance this against persistent forms like the redwood, nautilus and crocodile, which lucked into long-term stable environments. cn

...so what was (in place of) the gap? Why the need to generate a new composite to fill it? (to be sure, there's no "huh??" at the end of my questions :D)

Typically the gaps are the result of sudden changes in the environment. The great extinxctions illustrate this brilliantly. The Cambrian "explosion" (I have recently read paleontologists opine that the explosion metaphor conceals the 50-100 million years that it took to build a Burgess Shale fauna from stuff too small to leave fossils) came after what almost certainly was the "snowball Earth" event, in which the seas froze from pole to equator, and surface temps plunged as far as a global average of -50 degrees ... alternating with hot wet savage weather after a huge greenhouse gas buildup caused a global thaw.
The Permian/Triassic extinction, which was afaik the most severe extinction event during the Age of Life (Phanerozoic eon), seems to have been caused by a colossal volcanic eruption that buried maybe 2000 square miles of Siberia in great sheets of runny basaltic lava. It knocked out maybe 90% of known species, and the early Triassic saw new, "experimental" forms like ornithischian dinosaurs (Coelophysis springs to mind) that had all that ecological "empty territory" left behind by the demise of various archosaurs.
The Cretaceous/Tertiary (K-T) boundary contains tantalizingly incomplete sign of a large asteroid impact, which was another path to ecological disaster. The p-t event brought the dinosaurs forth, and the K-t event took them away.

Bottom line - extinction driven usually by factors external to biology created the ecological gaps, and evolution in its busy teeming randomness filled them in. cn

interesting info there. so once a species has become fit for its environment, naturals selection slows down. that makes sense really, once they've become populated enough there must be some force that slows down the rate of adaptations so this species cant further their dominance over the area. kind of like how after war most babies are males since there is a lack thereof. the world works in weird ways.
