hi everyone

got a bit of a problem educating my buddy so i figured a bunch of answers will make him see if im right or wrong....so your input is much appreciated

1. how far should a plant be in veg stage from the bulb (600 hps no cool tube)

2. how far for flowering?

3. how many hours hps usage before the lumens start to diminish?

4. how much on average does a plant gain in weight per day/week at the point of thc starting to degrade
(my reason for the above is because ive read that some plants at harvest time, may still be gaining more weight faster than the mature bud is degrading?)

if this is true and it depends on strain, then a few in the pipeline are ghs cheese, pine express, pure ak

5. im awesome in every way :P

1-As close as possible without burning or stressing the plant, depends on the atmosphere, but generally within a foot-ish

2-See answer for question #1

3-Starts to diminish as soon as you flip the switch, but to be safe it's good to change your bulbs at least every 12 months for 12/12 usage, and every 9 months for 18/6-24/0

4-How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a wouldchuck could chuck wood?

5-A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood!

Two observations:

plants in veg don't need 600w hps at any distance. Unless they are in at least week 3, a foot is too close.

I don't believe there is weight gain beyond the point where thc degrades. The return on investment for letting it go beyond that point is less than zero.

usually 2 ft from cannopy in both. hold hand on cannopy and if can feel heat raise the lamp.
ive used new bulbs next to old and old performed better. think as long as there not on last legs theyre fine.
