Is it illegal for your black box to have been damaged beyond repair by hooligans without your knowledge? :) Mine was stolen for it's scrap value, what're you gonna do about about it?

Technically its a shade. Is rainbow a color? To some people it is. Transparent is a color.. in ARGB. I also think its funny to hear about how "impo'tent" people think they are. Thats just ig'nant.
Who cares the color of the cat as long as it catches mice.~ credited to someone somewhere.

$25 fine, I think is the penalty.
Ummm, ok, i guess now would be a good time to make use fo the reason you are allowed guns. Oh wait. Nope, thats just a farce. If someone sabotages your balck box, since when did the victim become the one who had to pay the penalty? Bloody amusing notion to say the least. (UK is almost the opposite in that the purpoteator is required to pay a victims fine even if there is no victim  )

Dont worry, just another one of those thing the government does. No one really wants to infringe on your right or take away your freedoms, these things just happen in free societies comrades.
When they attach the information from the Black Box to OnStar then they will have everything they need to know.

The seizing of passports is a scary thing to even consider. What's next travel passes so you can go to a differernt state?
That smells of Germany in WWII
The bill is actually good for privacy in a few ways. In the past, there were questions about whether the data belonged to the manufacturer or the owner. This would establish that the data in the recorder belongs to the owner (or lessee) of a vehicle, meaning that interested parties such as insurance companies, dealerships, or advertisers won’t be able to collect info from your black box without your permission. The only exceptions would be when a court grants access to law enforcement, when an emergency medical team needs the info, or in the event of a National Transportation Safety Board investigation (I’m sure the gov had the Toyota accelerator investigation in mind here). Two wins for privacy here: insurance companies aren’t granted access to the valuable boxes and the bill says police have to get a court order to peek at the data under your hood.

It's your right to NOT have a box in your car. That is enough for me. First, seat belts......

12 guys in grey fatigues will knock down your front door and demand to know why you just "went off line". They will install a new one for you, beat the shit out of you, and then put a chip in your forehead. HAVE A NICE DAY!

I hope they have the sense of style to give me one that coordinates snappily with the one on my shoulder. cn

All this stuff is getting passed for complete lock down. It's actually quite disturbing how monitored and controlled we have become in recent history (the past 2 decades in particular).

So I can't even get big D in the privacy of my car anymore? What's next, black boxes in our homes?? Jesus americans are some loco stains of time. I'm sure this would fend well with the Amish as well. Craziness.

Why would I want a device that tells big brother where I am at all times? They can track me, see where I've been, lock me out of my car, or make it so my engine wont start. I heard the new ones automatically turn the radio to liberal talk stations.
