Why the unemployment rate is not a good indicator:
I pulled 25,000 bushels of corn last year out of my garden. Corn was my smallest crop. Am I smart in the eyes of the political elite? Those that pray at the alter of big government will accuse you of having sex with reptiles and appraise your intelligence by how well your garden grows.
Shows that any president quoting unemployment rates was using "fudged" numbers. Remember part time employees arent counted in the employment rate eitherlulz, it is macro good job! It also shows your lord and savior Obama is referencing economic statistics that are irrelevant to the actual state of the economy, with the intention of capturing votes so he can continue failing for 4 more years.
The unemployment rate makes a lot of assumptions. It only accounts for those who are "actively seeking work". It doesn't account for the underemployed, early retired, welfare recipients, students, discouraged... It is a meaningless number which does not reflect the actual and overall change in the labor market.btw the reason you even brought up the fact of how the unemployment numbers works calling it fudging the numbers is hilarious. It should be assumed that the number is tied into multiple variables including the participation rate, thats how it works. If you dont know that then your basically just like the guy who listens to stock prices when 1) hes not even invested in anything and 2) has no idea about the terminology or the actual structure of the system and still tries to make a "concise" opinion. Your literally mad that people just dont understand what the hell is even going on. Its not some conspiracy its the basic rules of macro and thats what dictates how the numbers are projected.
Ok thanks for just regurgitating what I said above. My point was is that this is the measuring stick we use for modern economics. The fact is if someone is not actively looking for work then they arent included. The unemployment rate by definition is only those actively looking for work and fitting specific criteria. Its not a sham its just our measuring stick. Everyone who tries to mentally digest the unemployment rate should understand that the unemployment rate encompasses all of those specifications. Dont be mad because people dont understand economics. Teach the people instead of saying that its not a good measuring stick. The unemployment rate makes a lot of assumptions. Your graph is deceiving.Economic super failure Obama and friends is perpetuating the next bubble as everyone floods the education sector because there are no jobs but easy credit for thousands in student loans!
You are doing it wrong. You have to look at many many other factors besides just the unemployment rate to understand the direction of the economy. This is a fact that many fail to see. Its like comparing death rates as the only factor to decide if you are winning a war. Its more complicated than looking at one measurement to draw conclusions from. Its just silly sir, economics is much more complex than that.Ok thanks for just regurgitating what I said above. My point was is that this is the measuring stick we use for modern economics. So maybe you should start a thread geared towards learning what the numbers mean by definition and how they are calculated so you can spread the knowledge. Your telling me just because someone doesn't know the true definition and calculation of unemployment its some hows economists fault. lol.

Your graph is deceiving as well because the Y-axis is restricted but good point. The purpose of me posting it was to show the negative correlation between labor force participation and students which the graph shows.Your graph is deceiving.

Try much harder.
Yessir they should, but they don't and the news doesn't explain it. Then people like me have to make gay little posts on the internet explaining that the unemployment rate does not equal the economy.Well you were charging Obama was trying to be all sly and shit. Which I proved to you right there was you just not fully understanding that its assumed only participating unemployed workers are counted. Its like you want me to count a population in a certain area of a group of people but get mad when I dont include other members of that group because they live out of the area you told me to only count in. Your logic sees little reason. Dont let your emotional blinders come up and keep you from admitting that I am right by saying when someone hears the unemployment number they should know how that number is calculated instead of just assuming its the entire population and not just active looking unemployed.
The issue here is education of the voting public and not the actual calculation itself. We shouldn't have to stoopify the system for the convenience of the no nothing public. Maybe they should of actually paid attention in civics and economics...... hmmmm...Yessir they should, but they don't and the news doesn't explain it. Lulz, tomorrow we discuss the inflation rateThe issue here is education of the voting public and not the actual calculation itself. The President is always abused. If he isn't, he isn't doing anything.

Plus the car companies lie to us too. They tell us Horsepower numbers at the crank and not at the wheels. What crooks.
