ok AZ, I have these 2 plants veggin(about 2 months old) I transplanted about 3 weeks ago (before I heard of hempie) and noticed the soil didnt drain good at all, it was top soil mixed with perlite, the pots were so heavy and no drain until I started to see spots on the plants so I decided to perform an emergency transplant into hempie of course, i realized the soil was pretty much a solid block and the roots didnt grow at all since they couldnt go anywhere, like if they were still in the previous container, I checked them 8 hours later and the leaves looked a little droopy so I watered them again; i figure the little roots need to strech and find their way down, so the question is: if I'm watering it twice a day then how often show I give her "grow big"?

i bought some pots from walmart, the ones with the tray so it drains into it and when my daughter poured water on it I realized it made the hempy effect(after drippin out some water some stayed on the bottom of the pot like a hempie bucket) so I'm trying it just for the fuck of it...
tell me if I'm wrong or if I should just try and see what happens..

if they're still in the soilf inside that perlite... i'd recomend filling a big container with water, and dip the root/dirt ball into the water to help seperate the soil from the rootmass fairly gently... then transplant back to the hempy bucket...

depends on how much water it actually retains at the bottom inside the pot... if its a big enough resevoir created than i don't see a problem...

it looks like it aint gettin enough water...i would water 2 times a day...till it has establised its roots...also with those pots just make sure nothing falls threw an clogs those holes you will drown your plants...peace az

maybe I missed something but with these pots you are talking about, if there is no place for the water go (run off) how can you really manage your watering??? with the basic HB design you no the res is full when you get some runoff out of the hole on the side, how would you know with these??

there is a run off on those pots, about an inch and a half stays on the botton, but like AZ said be careful with the wholes getting clogged so I will drill a hole on the side just in case

you can use soil based nutes yes as long as there disolved in water..i have seen folks use organic nute teas with no problems...peace az
hey AZ I was wondering about this, I have some good soil nutes that were given too me, is there anything special I should know about using the soil nutes in this system?? I know to cut the dosage way down but other than that anything I should or shouldnt do??

I dont know the exact name, got it from an old grower, when I first started, I was doing soil, so he gave me his mixture, he wrote the npk on the bag for me, he mixes his own nutes, I have been smoking his stuff for 5 years, so I figured he knew what he was talking about, it grew a great boy in dirt, no nute burn, and I have ton of it, just sitting here npk 24-8-16, water soluable

you might want to find out what, if any, micro nutes are also in the mix... and you might need to suppliment that feed with some kinda micro formula... otherwise yeah it should work...

thanks I will test it on a seedling i just started a few days ago, and see how it goes, generally speaking tho are soil nutes ok in this system, they are easier to get for me than hydro supplies

The only plant I have on soil is my Big girl that's been flowering for about 2 weeks and I dont want to transplant her now but after that I've switched my other ones to hempy and they seem to love it.....
