no, johnny is talking about austin, texas.

although as a fellow ASUer, i also enjoyed the einstein by rural and university. and also that god forsaken greasy pizza joint across the street. some of the best pizza a man can ever have was served there.
haha...small world. what was the name of that pizza joint? i was there from 1995-2000. we always ordered this pizza called The Massive. i can't remember from where but it was like 26" or something. those were the days. going to class in 110 degree weather. getting wrecked on Mill Ave. weekends in San Diego. blond sorority chic with "loose" morals. golf at some of the best courses in the world for free. watching ASU end Nebraska's winning streak and carrying the goalpost down University. Jake the Snake, Pat Tillman, JR Redmond. lol

sam's or gus's or something.

i remember playing karsten for $8 in the summer. $8 for 18 holes on a pete dye golf course? yes please.

i managed to shoot a 70 there once from the tips (by the numbers, don't play any up tees).

Is it true if you stand in a shower and hold a plugged in bagel toaster that you'll get a sun tan from the inside out?

gus'...that was it. nice call.

i was buddies with some guys on the golf team...still am. got tons of free shit and played golf at grayhawk, troon, desert mountain, desert forest, moon valley, wekopa, eagle mountain, all for free. that's what really got me into golf. never shot 70 in my life. 78 from the tips at a 7400yd. club in NJ is my best round ever. now i'm usually mid to high 80's. i don't practice like i used to. just play once a week or so.

i joined up with a few players from the team on the 16th hole one day. you remember the 16th, it's the 248 yard par three with all forced carry over water. you want to hit a fade, but the wind is always coming from the right off the lake which makes a 250 yard fade super tough.

anyhoo, pin was way back and right that day, wind blowing hard in and from the right. they all hit first since i just caught up to them. 2 of them put it in the water, one bailed out left. i got up there and accidentally stuck it 6 feet right of the pin, nearly in the water. missed the putt though. never birdied that hole in the 250+ times i played the fucker. birdied every other hole on the course and eagled all the par fives except 17.

those dicks from the team didn't even give me a "nice shot" when i stuck it. anyone with their name on their bag is a dick in my experience. every last one of them.

found a pic of 16 (the signature hole) on the internet.

the pin that day was fully back and right, to the right of the bunker you see up by the green (the bunker that is to the right of the carts, just over the water).

that's fucking hilarious. i put a 100 balls in that water on 16. wind was impossible to judge. i wasn't playing from the tips back then though. that was a sweet deal though if you went to ASU. you could sneak out there in the summer on a late afternoon and squeeze in 18 for free basically if you could survive the 115 degree temps. 17 was a bitch too. wasn't that like 600yds. from the tips? 10 was always my downfall. i could never drive the trap on the left back then and always got stup behind that tree. 4 was a bitch too. i wasn't good enough to play for the green back then.

17 was tough, only ever reached in two once, and i went over with two 4 woods.

10? the par 5? easy hole. aim left on the approach in is the only trick. 4 was tough, just miss short right and you can get up and down easily unless the pin is way back.

i played that course 2003-2005, but i have no idea who i played in with that one time. alejandro canizares was not one of them though.

yea, that was just past my time there. i used to tool around with pat perez, matt jones, paul casey, jeff quinney, jin park, jason hause, darren angel, greg padilla and a few others. i lived in the same complex my sophmore year off campus as almost all of them. became good friends with a few of them. still talk to some of them today.

10 was that long ass dogleg left with slopes on either side. last hole before you went under the bridge to the other side. i fucking hated that hole. i couldn't drive the bunker on the left from the championship tees. it was like 480 i think from those tees. i always bailed out with a big fade and got stuck behind that tree on the left.

10 was a straightaway par 5 with a bunker on the right at 310. trees down the left over the hill and brush beyond. that was an easy hole. just bail out right if anything. you can reach in two if you keep it between the hills, prevailing downwind hole.

oh, there was a bunker on the left, too. that one was never a concern for me, even from the tips. i was in it a few times, but just lay up and play your shot into the green to land left of the pin no matter where the pin is.

tell pat perez that he's a dick.

WOW only buck can keep a thread about bagels on the front page. I may be celebrating Memorable day early but god bless and i hope you don't have to work Monday.

I did not read until here, but I fucken love golf. may people see golf as people destroying land for entertainment, but when you live in a city it is the only piece of grass you can appreciate.

I may plant some rouge seeds one day lol

that hole looks like a piece of cake even from the tips... looks like just a drive and a 7 or 8 iron in from there... :-P
