MMj Patient moving from Arizona to Washington! Hello friends!

Hey Washingtonians!!!!!

I am SICK of the desert, grew up in Vegas, live in Tucson...... Spent my whole live in the desert and want some rain and trees!!!!
I am card holder here in Az, but the laws are changing so much for the worse that my card doesnt even fully protect me from local police..... no more self growing soon and the basic militant attitude of police says its high time for a change.

I know you can have 15 plants and 24 dry oz, but are there dispensaries? Co-ops? or are there plenty of patients i can donate to to pick some up when i arrive etc?
Are your MMj laws stable? getting better/worse? public opinion better or worse?

Also what are some nice west cities for me to move to? I am a working student, so places with jobs AND a community college is preferred ANy places i should avoid?

I am a Veteran, gun lover, Grow novice, Video game player, Pitbull Service Dog owning, cat loving fun guy....... Lets be Buddies Washingtion!

Wassup Mr. Ganja I live in WA state. Dispensaries are hard to find on the eastern side of the state but i believe there are a few still in the seattle area. Co-ops are done individually, (i.e. you can co-op with up to 10 people but the max amount of plants is 45 so its the same as co-oping with 3) depending on where ur planning on moving, you can get your meds. here, you're allowed to grow your own, which i like and the laws aren't really too stiff unless you're selling. i think they are pretty stable but the dispensary issue is a thing that is an issue nationwide. so it sounds like you're thinking about the western part of the state, i would recommend the seattle area but only if u move to a surrounding city not directly in seattle as the cost can get a lil outrageous to live somewhere decent. hope this helps, let me know if u have anymore ?'s

Hey man, (and rollitup since this is my 1st post after lurking round for a couple years...) Just kind of throwing some things at ya’ really fast:

Are Your MMJ laws stable?
NOT STABLE.
Getting better/worse?
Getting worse. State Lawmakers have decided to weasel their way out of dealing with this MMJ issue by appointing local lawmakers (city councils’ , etc) to dictate the situation. This is adding to the confusion.
Public opinion better or worse?
Public opinion has been pretty much split 50/50 in polls for the past 10 years for and against it’s (MMJ) legalization
Are there some nice west cities for me to move to?
Really depends on what you consider ‘nice’. Did not really want to answer like this, but it is true. Most places around here are seeing the results of over-population, a deteriorating eco-system, a very unstable housing market, a failing infrastructure, and most everything else negative that the rest of our beloved nation is seeing/experiencing. WattzH is somewhat on point with the inflation thing..But you will be lucky (or very unfortunate most likely) to locate a community in Western WA that is not unlike the cost of living in , let’s say NY City or L.A. But we do have alot of green trees if all in all that is what you are after.
North of Seattle is an abundance of community colleges to go to. Work is a different story. The charts will tell you we are at around 10% unemployment rate , but in reality it is closer to 15% + . It is quite easy to see this around the whole Puget Sound.
The general Tacoma area might be your best bet to just kind of ‘fit in’ without anyone taking notice, if ya know what I mean. There will be many, many ppl out here that would be more than willing to help you acquire your state mmj authorization and medicine all in the same day you get your PO Box. Need I say more?


- Veteran thing may or may not help you..I personally have not experienced any mili benies
- If you are a gun lover, we are a firearms-friendly state
- Video gamer? Good thing Microsoft is here . For sure there will be a gamestop close to you, and most cities have ISP’s that got the bandwidth to get your game on (just don’t move to the mtns)
- There is quite a large pitbull population here
- Cats guy, too, huh? Well, to each his own.

Finding or replacing any type of happiness you might or might not have gotten in AZ could pose a challenge. Finding kick-ass meds up here is just a matter of smelling your neighbor’s harvest...

I am happy I just have ALWAYS been in the desert and i HATE the heat. I grew up in Vegas, stationed in ALL hot desert shit holes, ended up in the Sonoran desert...... I want the polar opposite of the desert. I was at Mcchord for training for a few months and LOVED the weather.

Plus the laws in arizona are clamping shut. Our cards now are worthless. They say on the back "these cards do not protect you from LOCAL or federal prosecution" Basically they are worthless. I have shrapnel i my back and use for pain and i LOVE growing my own and having buddies that grow etc.... That will all come to an end in Arizona soon. The government here is CRAZY republinuts and i want to live in a nice green place that rains alot!!!!

Where is a good place for finding work?? For customer service or related things? Was looking at Bellingham, something about that town i LOVE, right on the coast and small and has a descent school.

As far as Washington laws go, are they planning on taking away pts grow rights? They are taking them here in Az before the end of the year. If you live w/i 25 miles of a dispensary you can not grow. ><

Anything like that up there?

Dude, Washington is heaven. Seattle is expensive to live in but weed is virtually legal in Seattle. I go to Tucson for 3 weeks a year and I can't wait to get back to the moisture in the air here. I love that sun but I miss the green of home.
I live on the southern edge of WA, across the river from Portland, OR. Here you can live cheaper and also have the closeness to Portland. Also you can get legal in both states if you qualify and want. We have a Community College here, in Portland and lots of schools in both cities.

King County is the only area in WA where you are virtually guaranteed not to be harassed by LEO for MMJ if you're following the rules. Outside King County and you are rolling the dice just like any other MMJ state.

I have to agree with stilllittle here in sw wa the law are more lax then other states lots of collages. my sis doesn't even have an mmj card and they just let her go even with no drivers licsence or insurance. there are not a lot of dispenceraries but I prefer to grow my own. plus we are trying for complete leagalization. the columbia river is execlent for swimming or boating. fishing is awesome here aswell. I want to move to seattle because of how easy theyare about cannabis, here in the sw part you just have to make sure that it is not in plain site and the cops don't care. If you are ever on your grow they will just ask you to cut the balance. Great place to livwe

I've spent several years in Northern Snohomish County & now 6 months in Mount Vernon & from my experience & understanding (I've been a WA patient almost 7 years, now), as long as you're growing for yourself & within your limits & obviously not selling - I think that's the hitch (although for several years, I'd drive monthly to the Worm Hole in South Seattle until they went to evening hours)

I was told not long ago that co ops of 3 people were legal in Skagit County but within the last few days, several different people told me "not anymore, there's a county moratorium in Skagit on both co ops & dispensaries"
I tend to believe that, although I'd like to confirm it & so far, no such luck

And I think it also depends on who might know of your grow, if you tend to me a quiet neighbor or not, etc, never hurts to keep a low profile

Western WA is totally awesome but you couldn't pay me enough to live in central eastern WA!

I spent most of my life there & the last time I saw it, it looked even worse than I remembered it!

Stick to western WA & you should do fine!

Hello Philosophist and welcome to the PNW (whenever you get here). Thought I would way-in on the subject since I am Pacific Northwest native. Personally I live in the south sound area (Olympia) and I loath to travel north of here. When you get around the military base, traffic increases about 100%. Olympia is also the capital so think government jobs (most state employees do NOT undergo random UA's, but do your homework). I grow my own medicine but there are also plenty of "safe access points" (dispenseries) close by. I personally have at least 4-5 safe access points within a ten minute drive of my house, all staffed with very cool and helpful people. Weedmaps.com is a good resource.

I'm also a veteran and there are a ton of resources around here (big military area), although you will have to go north of Olympia for your care at the big VA hospital. I love to interact with fellow patients so give a wave when you get here. Till then, good luck.

Im in the same boat! Im here in tucson too and found out the hard way that the local police department doesn't care if you have a card. I'm facing three felonies. Once I get it take of care of I'm thinking of relocating too. I grew up in snohomish and really starting to miss my family up there. Mount vernon and north is really mellow and cheaper to live. Belingham has colleges and its really laid back. Easter washington is really cheap to live but its a lot more conservative.

I moved here to Seattle from MD 7 years ago and never looked back. Seattle is so badass compared to the rest of the country. Walk down University way from 45th-50th in the U-district and count how many people offer to sell you bud. On the east coast (MD/DC area) you'd get arrested for a roach that fell under your seat you had no idea about, and get a year or more probation....and piss tests...

North end is better than south for living imo. South of the city is cheaper, renton, burien, etc, but is hit or miss, can be ghetto.

North of Seattle is much better imo, edmonds, lynnwood, it gets cheaper the further from town, but if you're commuting 15 minutes on i-5, what's another 10 minutes. I live near the U-district and it's expensive.

You have to go over to the olympic peninsula, north of seattle like 5 miles is edmonds-kingston ferry. It's around $20 but after a 30 min ride you're in a different world. Might as well be small town in the midwest surrounded by epic beauty. Rivers full of trout, steelhead, salmon, the puget sound loaded with crabs, oysters, clams, shrimp, halibut, lingcod, and lots more!
These are the oysters at low tide near dosewallips, you can shuck 10 lbs per person with a fishing permit:
I've caught 28" steelhead in the river there at dosewallips, it's a great place. A couple miles south is the duckabush river, with a campground not on the map that's where I go camping.
