Hey AZ, thanks for the inspiration to try my first hempy bucket. I just started my first Purple Haze clone in a mini hempi bucket, which I'm going to transfer to a large hempy bucket in a little bit in a couple weeks and place it next to my bubbleponics to see the difference. Just need to find a good method for catching the spare water every watering that wont make a mess.

Be careful with this: I found perlite at a few local stores, only to discover that it was Miracle Grow perlite with added (and most unwanted) nutes.

I finally gave up on finding perlite and went with aquarium gravel. It seems to work and it allows me to color code my strains (purple is DP Twilight, red is Fantaseeds Shiva: I'm hoping to add some new colors to the mix shortly..)

no mine isnt miracle grow it comes with no nutes in it at all, I go to star nursery they carry there own in house brand.... Hey Az with the molases when is it recomended every feeding, should I just add it too my nute mixture? and what dosage per galon of water???

Had another hempy related idea. Smaller pots = smaller reservoir, which means that the reservoir is more volatile, can be used faster, etc... So my idea is to drill a hole right at the very bottom of the side of the pot, instead of at normal reservoir height, and then gluing clear plastic tubing into that hole. You glue or tape this to the side of the pot and cut it off at the height you want your reservoir. Voila! Instant water level indicator.

I made this up while trying to figure out how to adapt hempy to a perpetual micro sog using 3-4in wide pots (probably about 5in tall). I figured for at least the first few runs I would want to know how the water was working. Plus with the tubing I can alway add or decrease the length if I find I need more or less reservoir.

Sweet. And if you wrap the tube around the pot, it will give you the ability to adjust the level if need be. (just tape it off at a lower/higher spot)

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing (sort of how the Water Farms/Emilys Garden are made) but in miniature form .. just use some aquarium sealant and attach it to the bottom of the container to seal it in.

The only problem I can see is it getting algae growing inside of it if there's light on it. Perhaps cover it with a cardboard flap or something. I was thinking of using it with a super sized soda cup from 7/11 .. nice hard plastic and you can get up to 64oz (1/2 gallon?) cups.

I am not too concerned about algae. I'll sterilize my stuff before I use it. In my area I've never really had issues with my fish tank or anything, so I guess algae spores in the air and water aren't much of an issue here.

As for aquarium sealant, that would be better than hot glue. I just don't have any on hand so I wasn't thinking about it. When I make these I will pick some up.

Also, I like that spiraling idea. Would be far easier to adjust as far as reservoir size.

Lastly, I wouldn't want to use 7-11 cups for growing, too much work to make them lightproof. I'd rather just buy some durable black plastic mini squares.

I use a 1/2" rubber grommet ( drill 5/8" hole) and 1/2 tubing. The grommet allows me to remove the hose in case it clogs up. My Home Depot has the rubber grommets in Electrical, and the tubing in Plumbing. These materials can also be used to make a drainage hole in the run-off tray.

I could use some advice . I'm presently using miracle-gro, epsom salt and piss.,, My plants are not as healthy as yours. Thanks!

Well AZ i wasnt gonna give you props until i saw the results for myself and it works!! I also like how you keep saying its very user specific. You can build it to work for you, not you work for it, or however you like to say it. No checking ph, ppm, topping off the tank, makes it easier for me!

i think i'll be seeing more an more people with that same response kassidy...you'll find that you can make the system easyer for yourself with a few simple additions of your own choosing...i just give a basic instruction an let it grow from there....peace az
