Ah I understand, so it's mostly a mix an match phenos game. No wonder it takes forever to develop good strains. I wonder wtf is the story behind Big Bud #2. Can't find any info...Depends on what you're trying to do with the strain. For instance you can get a 100% auto(statically speaking) with any strain if you cross it with a 100% ruderalis. Potency is a whole other thing you'd have to look for in each pheno. If you wanted to make Sour Kush x Big Bud and you grabbed a BB pheno that showed a lot of growth you could try to "extract" that into the next generation. If you're trying to preserve the strain and you mix it with something else, yes, it is undesirable. In that case though I don't see why you wouldn't just clone. If you're trying to develop a strain that you like and works for you then cloning/buying seeds simply won't work.
Keep in mind traits that shown on the parents may not show on the next generation. Look up punnet squares. Each gene has a % of likely hood in showing in the next generation. It's easy to guess what it is for autoflowering because pure ruderalis plants have a 100% chance for the gene. 4 plants divided by a 100% chance for the first generation.
http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Big_Bud/Sensi_Seeds/ probably the same thing, but mixed with different/better phenos. That's pretty cool I didn't know BB was mixed with Northern Lights.Ah I understand, so it's mostly a mix an match phenos game. No wonder it takes forever to develop good strains. Nah it's different than regular Big Bud...just like there was a difference with Big Bud #1. You can't buy Big Bud #2, find any info on it, and it was a freebie ...leads me to believe it's not worth growing if you have other options. The few comments I did find on it mentioned that it is prone to mold (unlike reg Big Bud), and has a high leaf to bud ratio (also unlike reg big bud).http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Big_Bud/Sensi_Seeds/ probably the same thing, but mixed with different/better phenos. Never heard of sweet black angel, but she looks awesome. This strain is Sweet Black Angel and if I must say it has been a pretty easy grow. She did suffer from some over ferts in her first days of flowering, but I flushed the hell out of her and didn't feed her any for a couple of weeks. She recouped pretty well after that.
I thought she needed a little more time too... I was reading online that it matures in 7 weeks. She was 7 weeks yesterday and as you can see she isn't ready yet. One person who grew this strain said he let his go to 70 days in flowering. So, I have about 18 more days.
I have a confession... I clipped a small bud off just to see what she smokes like now, compared to how she will be when she is done. Surprisingly, I got a nice high! It was smooth and had a good taste to it. So I can't wait to see what the difference will be when she is completely ripe!
Yea if it's discontinued then it was probably a bad strain. The freebie was probably a way to get people to try and it to get some reviews for it. That's strange that it was prone to mold. Most of the crosses with BB are because it's mold resistant.Nah it's different than regular Big Bud...just like there was a difference with Big Bud #1. I'm sorry! If I could un-ring the bell, I would.Lol nasty...and I was just enjoying my world table salami, sausage, and banana peppers pizza
That what's up...sometimes a freebie can surprise you . Can't believe it's your first grow, such healthy plants. Imagine what you're going to be capable of after a few more grows...I had never heard of this strain either. It was a freebie with some of the other seeds that I bought. Since it was my first grow I decided to try the free one first, so if I screwed up I wouldn't be to upset because it was free anyway LOL...
It was actually a mix of both a body and head high, but I would say more of a head high. I was high for quite awhile after only hitting about a half of J. I put it out and smoked the rest of it before I had went to sleep.
I can onl expect for her to get better with time, and just off of the little bud that I had, I would recommend growing her. I am probably going to buy a seed of her strain to grow again...
Wow...haze with c99? That's going to be...the..shit!Hey Lady, don't think anyone said it up there^, SLH = Super Lemon Haze.
And the breakdown on my sparkles: G13 Haze x C99 = Sparkle, F1( the first generation of this new creation)
Grew those out, got females and males, bred those together and the resulting seed = F2.
From here, I'll be doing phenotype selecting(at this stage more phenos will present than in F1 gen) for the two main phenos I got out of the F1's. The fruity pebbles pheno, and the funknasty pheno. (funknasty in a good way )
If they throw something else too, maybe I'll try for that selection in the future.
The goal is to have two main lines come from it, and shooting for stabilization.
don't sweat it J, i'm always checking up on you here on RIU...Damn scoob, what strain is that? Those plants look amazing...the first bud pic looks like a bud temple! The entire thing is forsty!
I've been good though, what about you?
I haven't been logging into Yahoo lately I know...I'm a poor yahoo friend lol.
more or less. just depends on the strain. i've run other strains that didn't really get those numbers. i LST and top those girls in 6-8 week veg times. i'm gonna start really pushing it here in the next few weeks. switching to 7 & 10 gallon smart pots, veg them a little longer. should be able to up that number a little.Damn bro that's 6 1/4 ounces per plant. W/e you're doing you're doing it right. That first pic does look like a temple, this amount typical for your grows?
It does look like a cheese...wouldn't have guessed Diesel.don't sweat it J, i'm always checking up on you here on RIU...
up until yesterday i though it was Cheese...went through my old pics and realized it was Sour Diesel. must have gotten the bags in the freezer mixed up or grabbed the wrong one by accident. oh well, guess i'm growing Sour Diesel for a while now. got a nice juicy mom going in the veg tent.
everything else is good. stateside tomorrow. looking forward to it.
Have you used the smart pots before? If so, do you feel that they are superior to plastic pots?more or less. just depends on the strain. i've run other strains that didn't really get those numbers. i LST and top those girls in 6-8 week veg times. i'm gonna start really pushing it here in the next few weeks. switching to 7 & 10 gallon smart pots, veg them a little longer. should be able to up that number a little.
those tents are in the garage at my house. i have another space i use for hydro. almost always around 1gpw there as well.
i've never tried them before but i have some friends that are just raving about them. the theory makes sense to me about getting more air in the root zone. plus, if you water slowly with them you can basically see as the pot gets moist and therefore never waste any nutes. and i'm gonna try the 7 and 10 gallon pots...larger root zone means larger yields. i like experimenting with new stuff so i think they are worth giving a shot.Have you used the smart pots before?
