The nice thing is I have a water source right next to them that will flow water all year round no matter how hot it gets. And I don't have to worry about people finding them, but I do have to worry about the deer eating them.
Are you one of the lucky ones with a well? Or the grail, a spring?!
Oh to have a spring watering my girls!! I'd ooze confidence in my grows!

Either way; badass, congrats, and good luck!

I'm only on page 3 but thought I'd mention when I was running my little 150w hps cabinet with a 50cfm bathroom fan for exhaust my electric usage was only about $8 a month on 12/12. The fan pulled about 40 watts, and I did confirm by using a kill-a-watt to measure. I could pull over 3 oz from a 150.

Ive since upgraded to a blackstar LED and then on to a 600 watt hps. I'm actually considering after this grow to scale back down. There's no way I can smoke the amount of weed a 600 produces and I'm not a drug dealer. I really had a fun time with my 150 in that little cabinet. Ok I'm going to keep reading now :)

Hey supchaka, I'm thinking about going LED for my next grow. What size/brand would recommended for a 2-3 plant grow? Admittedly I haven't done my homework yet, but I would just like to know your opinion.

I had the blackstar 240 and was totally satisfied with it, they say it can cover a 2x3" area, which mine was smaller but seriously it worked VERY well. They do produce some heat, dont think they dont, but it is very minimal. Why did I sell it? Well I didnt mean to... LOL I had planned to keep it. But I had ran out and bought the 600 setup and fan etc, which used, set me back $200. To keep the peace in the house I told my wife not to worry Id sell the LED to recoup my money from the 600. Well I paid like $280 for it from gothamhydro off ebay so I listed it on craigs for $260 FIRM. I thought for sure no one would buy it but the wife would be pleased I listed it, yeah Im sneaky I know. Ill be damned if some dirty son of a bitch didnt pay my full asking price and I had to let her go!

I did alot of LED research at the time and for me Blackstar was the best bang for the buck. And if I do scale back down, Ill be going with another Blackstar without hesitation!
(Just FYI with a 240 gotham recommended running 10-12" from the canopy, which I was even closer with no problem)

Yea I was reading about light bleaching. Not sure if you've checked out my grow yet, but I've been using 2 sterlite bins that have a total height of around 2 1/2 feet. I did notice how blackstars were probably the cheapest for the quality. The PG180 was $300 compared to the $230 BS.

I just bought the 135W Blackstar to reduce the heat the CFL's I'm running create. I'm hoping this was an investment and not a waste, but damn running 22, 26W CFL's is just to much heat for my tent. But I know the plants were enjoying the light as I have way more bud this grow than the previous grow.

I'm still amazed with that Lotus Lady J has, I'll bet with a reflector that thing could be outragious.

They have a reflector made for it, just is kinda expensive! Thinking about getting it...not sure.

heres a little info about leds. copied from a grow light companys website.

This question is really the most important issue to bear in mind when comparing different types of grow lights. Traditionally light bulbs have been measured in terms of Lumens. Lumens is a measurement of VISIBLE light to the human eye and the higher the Lumens rating on a light bulb the brighter the light will appear to the human eye. When thinking about the lighting needed to grow plants one needs to gain an understanding of what types of light plants respond to. Traditionally the solution has just been to use the most powerful HPS / HID lights which although effective only have a small percentage (15-30%) of their actual output in the correct spectrum for plant growth. One of the key advantages to LED lighting is that the wavelength of the LED can be specifically manufactured to coincide with the wavelengths that plants require to grow. This means as well as being more efficient at converting electricity to light in absolute terms LED's used for growing can also be refined only to produce the spectrum of light which the plant will use to grow. This means that watt for watt LED can be 15 times more efficient than HPS / HID lighting at producing growing light for plants. This means less heat, and less electricity costs.

Not sure about 15x, but no doubt that LED are more efficient than HIDs. The only trade off is the initial investment of purchasing one. So it's more like buying a hybrid because it saves you gas, but it's 3x as much as a normal car. I'm doing it for less space/heat and mother fucking purple lights. Was never interested in HIDs anyway though, lots of lumens, but it's impossible to do micro grows without having extreme ventilation like...making a hole in the wall :P

Have you thought about splitting your closet into two levels, so you have a space for flower and for veg?

Or double your floorspace by having two flowering chambers if you want.

In my experience, 12/12 from seed grows don't get overly tall. Plenty of room to make that closet multi level.

I was wondering about that bill...but wasn't exactly sure what to expect yet so didn't want to get overly ambitious. Multi-level would be awesome if you really think I have enough space...

I am currently growing in a 2x2x4 box.

The top portion has a 68 watt cfl and about 1 ft of space for veg, and the bottom half is 2x2x3 ft, and used for flower.

I am sure your closet is more than 4 ft tall right.

Most apartments have a 8 ft ceiling i think..

i agree. it definitely looks like you have the space. especially if you take that top shelf out. you could do 2 flower spaces offset by 1 month so that you pull a harvest every 30 days or so.

That would be a nice way to go split the room with roughly 4ft above and 4ft below. And have grows a month apart would definately give you a solid perpetual grow, specially with your little veg box. Hmmm, wonder why I never thought of that, as I'm always thinking of how to get more for the space I have.

The closet idea is excellent guys, but I don't think I would be able to handle the heat. I added two 40 watt CFLs as supplemental lighting and my temps started hitting 90. Am rearranging things in there now and altering intake...but if I am having this problem with just the space at the bottom, I''ll have more issues trying to add enough lights for a separate grow shelf up top. Would def have to have more exhaust. I guess that space will just have to go unused (unless I scrap 12/12 from seed idea and grow tall plants). At least I can still run some in the sterilite bins and keep it perpetual. Wish I could run a bigger op but it's cool I guess... this is just for my fiance and I to smoke after all, not trying to sell or anything.
