I have heard of so many different myths from putting a nail through your stalk to keeping plants in the dark for a priod of time before harvest, i believe like 48 hours before harvest. There are so many myths. Can someone please give me factual evidence supporting your technique for increasing thc. If your going to post on this thread then personal experiences wanted ONLY. Im just trying to find some true methods of increasing my thc and not myths or legends.

the 72 hours of darkness before harvest, is proven, in a lab and from personal experiance. but if you do the darkness thing, it will make your whole area Stink really good.

1-Get a decent strain 2- keep leaves green top to bottom from start to finish for maximum resin production and bud weight.

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency. SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

so if your strain has 10% thc content, and you leave her in the dark for 3 days, it can rasie the THC up to 13% .

Make sure you run osc fans 24/7(plant moving from airflow) if you do this to avoid mold .

the humidity will sky rocket in your room, with out the light drying it out, dryer the better at this point, but make sure the plant has plenty of water

There was a thread on here about running organic nutrients when u flush instead of flushing altogether, the theroy is that flushing actually deprives the plant of nutrients it needs. Organic till the end proved to be the best smoke out of a test of 9 plants.

They did a test run with the same strain and 9 plants.

The one that yielded the best as well as more THC was the one where he ran synthetic Nutes (can't remember if it was soil or hydro) throughout flower then as I mentioned he finished using organic. This is what ill be using and when my plants finish (in 4-5 more weeks) I will post results as well

Really? Interesting, what kind of lighting do you use? At this point in time I flower with t5 so supplementing UVB has been just what I've done. A couple years ago I was using dual arc mh/hps and was covered

Putting a nail or shiv through the base of the stock seems to work for people. I have not tried it but have all intention of doing so. After all it is 48 hours before harvest so it is not going to do any harm. The theory I have read about compares it to you or I being stabbed, are adenalyn (spelt wrong) rushes through our system much like TCH will work to combat the attack.

I am giving it a shot this next harvest with one of the plants.

I read of this being proven in a Weed World mag around a year ago, also a coop in Michigan claims this helps, I have tested this and I'm undecided still

Hmmm...I find you can increase resin very easily by seriously seriously underwatering the plant towards the end...THC is one way that MJ is able to survive drought...it protects the leaves...I have no actual proof, other than my buds that are sadly underwatered make glass jars opaque...and that is good for me...lol. But really it is more a strain thing than anything...I have a few different strains and when it comes to frostiness out of what I have I have to say that the Critical + wins it hands down...This is not a Crit + endorsement, I am just saying it is frostier than my others...it smokes weird though...like it tastes funny or something.

genetics is da only answer

while you can increase number of trichombs (uvb helps)

you CAN not increase yo lab report on thc readings wit nutin

whut is in genetics is final

thc cbd tarpins all final
morer trichombs does not equate to more thc

im sorry to inform you
and wish i was wrong and you are right

but please forgive me
for speakin da truf

You don't think growing those genetics to the fullest potential has something to do with overall potency?

I know this is an old thread but here's my experience for future readers.

Of 3 bag seed plants under T5HO, 2 were near week 5 and 1 just started 12/12.

The lamp fell on top of the young plant at week 1. At week 2 it has more trichomes then my other 2 grown plants. The young plant was not very healthy either. Possibly a N lockout. Leaves were turning yellow at a rapid pace. Almost half the fan leaves were gone. Anyway, the top of most major colas got burnt (rust color) but the THC production were visibly abundance on the leaves and undamaged buds creating a different shade under the lights. To stress the plants out more, I have a powerful fan blowing at the base of all plants constantly all day long.

So there's my two cents from my experiment stressing at a young early stage will increase thc production also.
