Enough light?

I am a first time grower and I just ordered a 125 watt cfl with reflector and I already have 4 26 watt lights would this be enough light for four plants in a 3×4 room

It's the square footage of the floor your plants will cover that is your consideration here. Sounds like a good start but I suggest at least a 400-watt high pressure sodium. In addition to the CFL as your yield will be far higher. My personal opinion and others will be along immediately to counter.

Borrowed from RIU member Babygro: "Plants in seedling and clone stage require about 400-500 lumens per square foot. In vegetative growth they require about 2,500 lumens per square foot and in flowering, they require about 10,000 lumens per square foot. "

Sativas and sativa dominant strains require the most light while pure indicas require the least. Hybrids then fall somewhere in between.

Hope this helps.

i'm going to say no. to cover a 3x3 area with sufficient light you would need at least a 250w.

damn, you said a 125w CFL. i thought you were talking about an HPS. with those CFL you might not even have enough light for 1 plant.

Well rite now I have more than half the closet cut off with 4 26 watt lights and have the 125 watt otw. I only wanna use cfl lights

i used to grow with CFLs. then i got a 250w HPS and it's so much simpler now. good luck though!
You can easily grow with cfl's but be ready to get a ton of them per mature female and you will need to move them around a lot during growth due to bad light penetration.

That's enough light to get started, but be ready to add much more even for just one female. Also, it looks like you may be using clear containers for pots and that is a huge no no. No offense but from looking at your grow you put minimal if at all any research into the process and now you would like others to piece it together instead of researching yourself. Growing ganja is only worth doing if done correctly, otherwise your setup could end up costing money instead of saving it.

that link will get you started on understanding using cfl's as your light source. As for the rest of the process i can point you to the Newbie central which has tons of great info for new growers. Good luck :weed:

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we supposed to consider the spectrum and PAR watts of the light rather than how much lumens there are.
I have seen a test grow somewhere around here that was done with one single little CFL for one small plant with decent quality and yield considering the circumstances of the environment

When it comes to light I say 5,000 lumens per square foot in veg, 10,000 lumens per square foot in flower. But that's just me. I think minimums for acceptable growth is 2,500 lumes per square foot veg-5,000 lumens per square foot flower.

I can only assume you have about 10-15,000 lumens total. In a 3x4 room that's at best 1200 lumens per square foot. Total lumens divided by 3x4(12)

If that's what you can afford then that's what you have to use. If you can add at least 1 of those 125 watt cfls for each plant plus have additional lighting on the sides or wherever that would be better.

I can't imagine not having my 600 mh and hps's.
