keep what you have for cfl's right on top of that baby. You'll find your adding more and more light as you need. Your first grow = experience for your next grow. I use all CFL's as well and I find the smaller 26w seem to function better for spreading the lights around. You just have to adjust them all the time so they are 2" away. I just finished up a pretty sweet grow using 500w of CFL for 4 plants. My first grow I used 364w for 3 plants and got over 5 zips of killer dense colas :)

When you use CFL's you can NEVER have enough light.

Good luck :)

I am a first time grower and I just ordered a 125 watt cfl with reflector and I already have 4 26 watt lights would this be enough light for four plants in a 3×4 room
a 125w cfl and 4 26w would just cover a 2ftx2ft

have the 125w 4-6" above top of the plants and the 4x26w's round the plants facing any good bud sites (12-16" below the 125w cfl)

My opinion is that you will have plenty to veg but you should go with a 400hps for flower. cfl veg well I in the past have kept mothers alive with one 26w cfl I have also veged a plant in a 5 gal bucket while lsting it under 2 26w cfl. they veg nice if used properly. flower takes a buit more. if you keep your canopy even and put that 125cfl an inch away from the top of 1 plant you will get buds, not big ones but you will get them.

this is aimed at the op I can not be bothered to read all the other posts. hope this info helps

in a 3x4 room to flower a 400w hps will get the job done a 125w cfl will not, did I miss something? I just was answering the op's original question

I don't see where ther is anything that says anything about a 400w hps not helping in the op's post. I don't see where a 400w wouldn't help in a 3x4 room, enlighten me, maybe I'm just really baked or something but I don't see it

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we supposed to consider the spectrum and PAR watts of the light rather than how much lumens there are.
I have seen a test grow somewhere around here that was done with one single little CFL for one small plant with decent quality and yield considering the circumstances of the environment

His trying to grow in clear plastic makes clear he does not have a clue as to what it takes to successfully grow any plant but There are too many people who believe you cannot grow or should not grow unless you do it bigger and better. To start small and learn as you grow seems to be taboo.
