Is one 25 watt CFL enough to grow 2 plants?

I cant seem to find a a CFL bulb over 25 watt. Would this light be suitable to grow 2 Ganja Dwarf Lowrider? I have a 60 watt incadescent spotlight bulb in my lamp shining on the plants at the moment. Would this be suitable? I have heard they are pretty much useless. Advice greatly appreciated.

Definately not enough if you want to yield more than a joint between both plants. Lose the incandescent lightbulb, too, and go all CFL...Maybe get like 10 all together, so 250 actual watts. and that should grow a couple decent autos.

10 bulbs! I was well off, excuse my idiocy I am very new to this. What kind of fixture would hold 10 bulbs? I am not working with a lot of space

Take a good look at your cfl or the package. Is that 25watt rating the equivalent of a higher wattage?

I'm pretty sure it was a 25 watt bulb plus that set up that Meta Synth just posted looks pretty bad ass. I think I may need to go back to the drawing board and re think this. I thought I could grow with one light and some TLC. What are does black plug looking things by the way for future reference?

Those black plugs are what you plug into an outlet and can scew a bulb into, or in this case, you would screw in those "Y" adapters to them. The make it so you can plug it into an outlet, and it becomes a light socket.

You can purchase all these things at any DIY shop yeah? I might gather a bit more money together and rethink my growing location, I really rushed head on into this

Well, take your time. How large of a grow area do you have to wwork with? Almost as important as lighting is proper ventilation qand temperature control as well, so keep that in mind.

or you can pick up a 5 bulb bathroom light fixture at hd for $20, buy you 5 y adapters and 10 42w cfls and go to town :D

oooorrrrr, invest in a 4 lamp T5 HO fixture and go that way. Also as mentioned^^ proper ventilation is a key to a good grow room as well.

I say get a 4 bulb T5 HO aquarium light with 6500K bulbs in it. I am using the same lighting and it is working great my ladies are growing fast and healthy under this light. You can find one for under $80 with bulbs shipped at aquatraders.com.

Why don't you just buy a shoplight from HomeDepot. They are about $20 and the bulbs are only $2 each, the lumens on each T8 bulb are about 2800. Or, yes, buy a 4L T5 and you will have dramatically better results. If space is an issue, they make 2'T5 fixtures, and you can also buy the PL-L type of fixture, which is basically a 4' T5 bulb bent in half in a "U" shape.

I own an aquatraders fixture...I used it for reef lighting, but I gotta say they have the worst one-piece reflector on the market, and the stock bulbs that come with it are absolutely terrible, and should be replaced as soon as possible...That being said, for the price, they're pretty good...lol...I have no regrets with mine, and ran it for 6+ months over my reef tanks before converting to LED's(for my coral reef, not pot)

I would never run one of their lights over mt SPS reef tank, for that I have 2 Reef Optics 250W MH run on Icecap ballasted firing Oddysea 20K bulbs. However for grow lighting there T5 fixture just as it is has been working great. There bulbs are the same as any other bulbs but yes plane 10K and Actinic bulbs suck for keeping sps. You must have an older style light because there has been a big improvement in the reflector. It is still a one piece reflector but now it is bent to create a reflector for each bulb instead of a flat one piece reflector like they use to have.

Those light fixtures are great (I've never been a fan on the plug sockets, you can buy little ceramic fixtures at your local superstore for like 3 bucks and install it in some wood) but with CFL's you really want to surround your plant(s) with the light not just the top and you really want them maximum 3 inches away so you can get many fat dense colas instead of one or two top nugs and fluffy bottom nugs, i keep mine at and inch away but you have to pay close attention to it. burning the leaves isn't the end of the world but when you're flowering it stunt the bud growth if they touch. the closer the fatter and denser they will get. i would stick to only 42 actually watt CFL's. i have 8 surrounding one plant and i just ordered these like spider extender things that make it so you can bend the lights in any which direction

CFL's give off light mainly on the sides but all the way around so use reflectors so you're not wasting any light!!! I have the 'budsforless' book by Seemorebuds and have learned a lot but also through experience(i just use his light setup but tweaked it to my likings ^_^). i havent quite gotten 8 oz. off 3 plants like the book says but ive gotten 3oz. off one plant and boy is it dank swollen dense buds o_O im goin to run the CFL's until funds are available for LED but its still a slow going process.

don't be fooled when they say they don't give off heat because they do indeed!!! definitely upgrade and add more cfls and you're good to go. ive seen people using just 4 42actual watt cfls and have great personal smoke. everyone's situation is different so research, trial and error and experience gaining is the first steps to growing beautiful chronja!!! good luck brother and always smile!! hope this helps!

What kind of ventilation would ye recommend? Would an open window in a room be enough or would it effect the temperature too much? Im growing in a space about 4x5, too small?

Thanks for all the advice from everyone, this is one the most helpful sites I have ever been on

4x5 ft is big enough dude! and even a few more plants. you need some fresh air being pumped in and the same back out, and a fan on the little beauties to keep the circulation and for the stems to grow a bit of resistance! will help further down the line to hold them buds up ;)

Thanks for the advice buddy. Im gonna need to do a lot more planning on this and also Im not living on my own at the moment and my room mates are already quite suspicious as to whats going on. I'll be moving out on my on after Christmas so I think I might start planting again then.
