alright guys, im about to try the AG grow out for myself, ive got myself a pack of Himalaya Gold seeds, and im awaiting the arrival of my AG in the post any day now. This will be my first attempt at growing bud, and i do hope it all goes well, do you guys have any tips that could make life easy'er when i come to grow my soon to be little babys. ???
Ok well I just started growing a couple of months ago but I've learned alot on this site so I'll try to help you.
Fist off, don't try to grow 7 plants on the AG just because there's 7 spots. I'm growing 3 and that will be very crowded by the time they're done.
You're gonna need an air pump and a small air stone. This is to airate the water in your reservior. If you don't have a hydroponics supply store close to you, fish & pet stores carry them. The air pump will cost you about $10 and the air stone is a couple of bucks.
You need a PH test kit which also comes with the acid/base for adjusting the PH level of your water...they cost about $10 or you can get a digital meter for $75. hydro store or online.
If you do have access to a hydro supply store, I suggest you get some good nutrients instead of using the nutes that come with the AG. I've heard from a couple people that the AG nutes work ok but it comes in tablets which makes it harder to regulate how much you're giving your plants. hydro store or online
You'll need a timer for when it comes time to switch your plants over to flower because there's no 12on/12off setting on the AG though someone told me the latest model has a programable timer so if that's the case and you got one of those, you obviously won't need to buy a timer. If you do need the timer, you will also need a "figure 8" power cord that lets you plug your light directly into the timer instead of the AG (you'll understand what I'm talking about when you see it). Sony playstation uses the same figure 8 cord or it's $8 at radio shack.
The salad greens setting is the only setting that has the pump running 24hrs a day, that is the setting you should use.
Extra lighting for side light will help alot with aerogardens once the plants start to get big because the lower branches hardly get any light. Compact Flourescent Bulbs (CFL) work really good and are not expensive at all. You can get them at home depot or any home improvement store.
Yea that's definetly enough to get you started...feel fee to ask any questions that come up.
