Blackstar 500 grow.....New to LEDs

The reason I ask is because Im about to upgrade to either a 1000w cool hood system or an LED set up. I could get everything I need for the 1000w set up for $1100 and could yield 300-400 on my worst grows. Im just curious if LEDs can compete with this yield within a fair price range

Yes LED's could deffenitely compete with that yield, but not in a fair price range...I mean you would need easily two really nice fixtures that would cost a g or more each....

UPDATE: WEEK 1



So far everything is fine. I lollipoped them, no sign of sex yet but, the clone i tested took a long time to show sex. (no surprise)

I had explosive growth with the led's was very surprised with them

it would cost more like 2000$ to get you going ... it will cost you more upfront there is no way around it. So far I can pay for my light within the first harvest no problem. you would need about 700watts LEDs and also if you are only trying to make a quick buck off of 1 harvest buy the hps.

All of that would cost less than 250 if you bought it separate. Don't ever buy a 1k, go with 2 600s if you really want. Or just a 600. 1ks aren't worth the electricity and heat... Might as well get a 1500w...

I disagree, 1st that IS separate...... you can't find a solis tek 1000w digital dimable w/ remote for less than $248.50 new ... 2nd that's a dimable ballast 400,420,600, 630, 1000, 1050 watts.... great versatility. So it really depends on your situation, I'm just giving suggestions. Also 1500's are costly & short lived. You can get a 1000w setup for under $250 but not the same quality.
