Well I believe if you need medical attention or food or anything else you should have to pay for it. BUT, It is impossible for many people to do so because they dont get decent pay.

Health insurance should be universally covered like every other industrialized nation, but Americans are stupid and easily. Misled. By using terms like socialism it communism.

Wait til a virus breaks out from the poor in the slums and spreads to capital hill, then you will see universal coverage.

To say that you can't afford car insurance while on minimum 7.25 WITH foodstamps means that you are spending your money on other less important things.
Or you live some town/city/state that isn't dirt cheap, have kids, are paying off college loans, etc., etc.

No brother I could not have collected foodstamps if I was working 40/hrs @7.25( speaking of which, min wage just went up a bit). Oh and Im under 25 so insurance is double(here is MA).
In my state you can get full foodstamps under those conditions (40 hrs a week). They count gross wages and then minus expenses (rent, utilities). If the other people in your household are making big bucks ( like parents or spouse) it can affect your ability to get benifits.

MA seems to have a similar program.

I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for if you pay shit for wages you get shit..
that old saying isn't exactly true though . last time i checked, i gave the government thousand s of dollars per year . along with millions of other americans . yet we still get a shit product from them. shall we raise taxes again ?kiss-ass

Different income limits apply to different types of households. Most households have to pass a gross income test, a net income test, or both. Gross income means total countable income, before deductions. Net income means countable income after allowed deductions:
  • Households with a pregnant woman or at least one child under 19 must have a gross income no greater than 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
  • Households where all members are getting TAFDC, EAEDC, or SSI do not have to pass a SNAP food stamps income test.
  • Households with at least one elderly (60 or older) or disabled person must have a net income no greater than the Monthly Net Income Standard (100% of the FPG). Households with elderly or disabled members are allowed special deductions from income.
  • For other households, the household's gross income cannot be greater than the Monthly Gross Income Standard (130% of the FPG), and the household's net income cannot be greater than the Monthly Net Income Standard (100% of the FPG).
