This type of reaction baffles me.
Do you know the requirements as stated in the Constitution needed to go above an amendment?
The president doesn't have the power to pass an executive order to abolish any amendments. Nobody is behind the scenes getting charged up and coming for your guns. Even if restrictions were passed, your guns, the ones you own right now, would be safe from the rule. Do people really think the government has the resources/ability to do a sweep of the entire country and start confiscating guns?

Nobody can confiscate American firearms. No organization has the ability/authority/resources to do so. Like I said, it would take a sweep of over 90 MILLION homes, do you know how long that would take, how expensive it would be, and how inefficient of a plan that is?
I guarantee, for every 1 firearm confiscated, 9 wouldn't be. Good luck..

The American population could reasonably expect to win a war waged against most militarized nations, the only thing that could take everyones guns away is the US government, and more than half the service members of the US military would stand against such an order.
I'm not even sure who would support repealing or even restricting the 2nd amendment, there's no lobby in existence big or powerful enough to even make a dent in such a policy.
All this "they're gonna take my guns!" bullshit is nothing but hyperbole, and more of exactly what the media is good at, exaggeration.

In this case, I feel like I don't need a citation, although you and I both know no such citation exists.
People who are drawn to the military are likely gun enthusiasts, hell, a lot of them join to "blow shit up", not to diminish their reputation, but that's the exact demographic that supports the 2nd amendment. Ask any person inside the military if weapons should be banned for American citizens, likely, and I'd be willing to bet, more than 90% of them would say no.
I've personally spoken to people in the military, and this is one of the strongest issues.
Trying to take guns away from Americans would be like trying to take heroin away from junkies only harder because with guns there's an amendment in which 3/4 of the states would have to systematically oppose, that is, 225 MILLION people..
