You have to admit though, some of them ask for the comments they get by asking really stupid questions.
Picture of 1 in sprout and asks how many clones can they get.
Jiffy pucks in a bubblecloner and ask how high to put water level, just a cpl..
Maybe that would be a good thread to have.. Dumbest questions asked by newbs, at least then they would know what questions not to ask. Hell , they prob wouldn't read that either.

nothing against noobs, we were all one at some point... but

i never once had to ask a dumb question.
i searched online for all the information i needed, not asked for handouts.

I currently exchange experiences with fellow growers over nutes, equipment, and techniques.
which is one thing...

basically my only 2 issues with new growers.

asking if a plant is male/female. identifying male/female is just about the easiest thing you can do.
yield questions. yield is just about impossible to guess. and jesus christ, you get what you get. NEVER plan for a certain yield until you've dialed in a grow. period.
that and other shit that you should be able to figure out with some basic common sense are things you should NEVER need to ask.

you honestly don't need to ask anyone a single question. you can learn everything you need to know with some time into research.
people just hate doing the work i suppose.
Yep.
I spent easily about 200 hours on research before I even planted my first pip. (George Cervantes and Ryan Riley mostly).
I still do refreshers as I get to each new stage or repeat a stage in the grow.
I'm guilty of being one of those, well sorta, but here's what I have for my very first 35 days of growing....

006 (2).jpg006.jpgoh yeah a female.JPG Lady #1 pic was taken at 30 days...

003.jpg004.jpg005.jpg Lady #2 pic was taken at day 28..

View attachment 2547800View attachment 2547801 and my setup before painting walls flat white...

And for all the ones who put up with my questions like Bakatare, thatboyis1uvakind, slipon, hotrodharley, figong & althor (who is a lil harsh, but knows a bunch..lol) I have nothing but appreciation for, and try to pay it forward with all n00bs....thanx guys, you made me proud of my ladies and my first grow

Well I guess I joined the wrong site then. I thought this site was for people to get info from great growers. I research the internet but as you know it says different stuff about the same issues. So I was join hoping I could get straight answer because if want to know something I'd like to know now not spend hours online. So I guess I will find a site were there's no dumb questions.

No you came to the right site man, you just gota be thick skinned and be ready for the shit, it's everyones way of initiating you. I went through the "your a fucking idiot for asking that", but hey I finally got the answer I was looking for and I did watch videos and read books, and Googled everything, but there's just nothing like hearin it first hand from someone who's been there...

So with that said what do you need to know buddy????

I think bmeat was the first to respond to my first couple of posts. He was followed by a list of members telling me not listen to bmeat. I thought it was strange how harsh they described another member (idiot, a-hole, dumb mf, I mean really offensive). After being here a couple weeks, I understood completely why they were warning me. He provide bad information and ended up being 16 years old! The members care on this site, but you do need thick skin as a newb and do your homework so you don't come across as lazy.

RIU is the best site around and all they mean about stupid questions is; do some reading first and search the threads for your answers, before asking something blindingly simple. I been growing for a couple years but am brand-new to indoors and they have treated me just fine. By the way all those who responded and helped me. Thanks

Well iam trying to gain UFO about cfls. Iam trying to push the limits and how many I can grow with these lights. I have a great grower that comes and checks out for me. But I may have questions no matter how you may think they are just answer them. Don't bash because of spelling or anything like that. If we all get good info this will be world full of good weed.

Hear you Lima Charlie (loud and clear). Put most people in my job positions and they would crap their pants. I was first an MP, then a CID agent, and finally a nurse. Never have I belittled someone for attempting to carry any sacred torch. As a cop and then investigator I was well trained as to my job and then to train those around me. If it works then proliferate it! As a nurse I became tired of the narcotics my patients were prescribed. Medical marijuana worked for them, always. My law-enforcement training told me "no" in such a visceral way and yet the truth was that people received respite from countless maladies. I was converted. People should know when to dismount their "high horse" and then pony up with the truth. In training with FBI and other Feds I know that if you don't stand united you(we) will all fall. They (I used to say "we") count on this. When people stand united for what is reasonable we all benefit. This includes the perpetuation of marijuana science pertaining to genetics, efficacy, and economic viability other than ingestion as well. Any one person on this forum not willing to feed the future should be "weeded" out. As far as guys on this forum not being gratuitous, we all within our own professions could write a book about what they don't know. Strange thing is that they might be on a carpenter's forum or computer software forum as a newbie and be pissed by the same behavior they perpetuate here. We can all be the strong link in the chain through education or direction. Peace, MP 85-97
Still a nurse?

what i have got to say is this. i really enjoy this site as there is no lack of good guys willing to help others out. the one thing that does bother me is the way some people treat the newbs. they are often ridiculed for asking stupid questions. as far as im concerned there is no such thing as a stupid question. try to think about some of the questions we asked when we first started. when it comes to growing i find most of the stupidity seems to come from the answers . uneducated growers giving answers when they should be asking. we all had to start somewhere . something to think about. this craft is not learned in a couple grows. peace out

Well, the big issue IMO is that so many people these days (especially the 18-28 year olds) want everything spoon fed to them.

Research to them, is typing a lot of dumb questions.

Well don't have a question now LOL. Just saying we all need someone to lean on LOL. And to all newbies just search the forums to see if your question has been asked so you don't look like a dumb ass because some else looked stupid LOL.

Believe me you are going to get the best info here...Let me put it "basic" like a bunch did for me...You want 6500k for it's summer sun imitating blue spectrum for vegin, seedlings do not require a lot of light at first, but will after about 2 weeks then you want to put some 2700k CFLs to imitate the suns winter redish orange spectrum...BUT...you want a ratio of 3 to 1 meaning 3-6500k to 1-2700k for vegin for a "full" spectrum of light (and just the opposite for flower)...Paint walls flat white or get mylar, tinfoil causes hot spots (I was using when I first started, I know better now) and keep them lights as close as possible like 1 to 3 inches away...Rule of Thumb, if you put ur hand above the plant and ur hand is not to hot, neither is the plant...and DO NOT give ur babies nutes this will cause stunting and nute burn and will stress the plant..wait for at least 3 to 4 weeks when they are stronger (if your soil has nutes in it DO NOT feed nutes at all till it starts showin it needs them, mine still don't need nutes at 35 days from sprout)

Hope this helps, cuz damn that's alot, but yet so little.
