I know when using coco for other organics I had calcium issues, but Epsom salt is to fix this, but many researches show the coco sucks the Epsom in but doesn't push it back out, any info on this?

Nope. Just water it like with soil. It is widely stated that you can actually water every day with coco and not suffer over watering problems. I don't think I would go for that though, every 3 days would be enough for me.

Saying you have to have a drip system with coco is like saying you HAVE to use a watering can to water soil.

Red, The best recommendation you will get here is to buy a book. The book recommendation I have is "Marijuana Horticulture" by Jorge Cervantes to start; there are others. Greg Green's "The Cannabis Grow Bible" is another.

There are knowledgeable, well meaning people here but yahoos too. Why trust random people's opinion on the internet?

Otherwise "Google" your questions. Read the published literature. Try "Youtube" for visuals...FWIW...Good luck
If you buy a book like this, keep in mind, a lot of it is outdated.
Books are good for some research but that is about it.
No amount of reading can replace growing yourself.

There has been more research and testing and experimenting done in the past 5 years than there has been in the past several hundred years on cannibas.

carbon filter and yes use ona it works if you use your dryer vent for heat release you will be fine because when the chopper flys by it will look like you are using you dryer flir cannot see through walls it will show heat through windows and opening then they read the color to see if the temp is normal meaning if the window shows 90 deg heat there is an issue.

Red, Epsom to cure Cal problem??? What exactly were you growing in your successful nursery biz?

Pleezzze...You will better fit in (if that is your objective) when you have enough knowledge to ask a proper question...I don't mean to troll...I want you to succeed and have fun...Read more...Write less...It is a journey beginning with small first steps...Grow In Peace

althor, I agree...Perfecting technique is why I am here and I have been growing for a while...Having basic knowledge is the precursor to working on technique...At least for me...I enjoy reading but I first learned to read...FWIW

I apologize guys,

I will start working on my research now, I have a question before I head off on research.

What would be the best method for a inline fan with the system I posted in page 1

If you can attach a link to the post ill just go ahead and order it so I have it.
Red, Are you asking how to install the fan, filter and duct through the hood? If so there are a number of vids on "Youtube"...Easier to watch than explain...I don't have the time now to do the search for you and it may do you well to look at the various hookups there yourself...Chill, this is going to be a fun ride...FWIW

I'm asking the best method to cool the lights I feel I may have temp issues, the plants will do better with less temp

Best method to cool lights.

Air cooled hood with air blown across it. Can be added in as part of your extraction, and therefore with the air being sucked across it; which is likely to be just as efficient (but will result in more dust and particles being sucked through your fan).

Red, The link to your grow package provides a window that shows an interior pic of the tent with lighting, carbon filter and fan set up...Go with the flow...Try it out...Do not get attached to problems that may or may not arise...Your mind can be a dangerous neighborhood...You will adjust to issues that arise over a sixteen week grow period; depending on the strain and your grow process. Nothing bad happens over a short time period IF you follow THE definitive guide to growing found in whatever book it is I hope you ordered...My advice is not to do anything you read on this web site...Make your own mistakes...The future is littered with opportunity not wreckage...You will make mistakes...I did not learn much from what I did right...You will not become the ganja god on your first grow...Don't strive for perfection...It will kill you & the plant and no one here really cares anyway...Your first grow Will provide you with experience, knowledge and a good buz If you follow the definitive growing guide in whatever book you bought...Then you can come back here brag, post pics and hopefully help someone else along...No one on this site is growing your strain under your conditions with your equipment in the house you live in...

So why is it you want to grow bud if you don't use bud?...FWIW

Re - the last post by - "Natural Gas"

That post made me think back to my first grow - with Auto Ak47's from Lowlife seeds. I tried to fix every little thing that went wrong and ended up causing problems trying to solve things that now I'm experienced I don't see as problems at all. Going with the flow, and following a recognised text from a highly qualified and experienced grower - like Jorge Cervantes - will teach you so much. Totally agree with the previous poster on that point. This place is best for getting multiple perspectives on issues you already have a good grasp on. There is never one correct way to do anything; and this place helps provide alternatives. In combination with an open mind this means you can continuously develop and improve.

To answer your questions, I do not smoke bud; this will be my retirement fun. Something new, doing something new and learning will give my brain something new to do.

I also intend to do this as a business, grow 8-10 plants, soon upgrade to 2 tents and 1 hydro tent so I will have a harvest monthly. But first I need experience.. I have a friend that I use to golf with at the club in West Palm Beach who use to own 2 full grow houses with over 250-350 plants per house that was raided in 03 because he let the wrong person in his inner circle.

So now he's out of the business but I am sure I could pick his brain but at the same time I don't want anyone getting the idea I have a grow room which will break my security.

Right now I have a 4 BR home with 16 cameras, cameras I have up were from two years ago. I'm currently removing two in the hall way of the grow room just for my safety.

But again you can see, I like to over do anything i do.

How much heat does it remove from the light if I do it that way? I just arrived in Long Island now, I'm heading to my hotel room so ill look on YouTube in a little

Respect for sharing man. You've certainly got some support here. Can't think of a better way to spend your retirement. Might be worth trying a little bit of Indica with a high CBD content, see if it changes your perspective on over thinking things (might be worth avoiding sativa though lol). :-)

I run a 600W HPs with an air cooled hood and an acoustic fan. Even with only a passive intake I can have plants 8 inches away from the light without it being too hot. I don't as it bleaches the leaves, but I could. So my answer is, it cools it really well.

I'm ordering the lights now and the 400,600 and 800 watt light doesn't have a huge difference in price ... So tell me; is it worth having the 1k if growing 6-8 plants in my tent? I mean I hear and read were people say 1000 per plant but that's a lot when your growing in a tent, I personally have no experience but if the whole idea is to mimic the sun, nothing will really work as the sun unless using a HMI, a 1.2k HMI is the truest form of true sun replication. My earlier years i worked as a film editor for many many many years, worked on a lot of Hollywood film sets, this will be my 2nd time retiring:)

But I want to make decent amount of money. If my concerns are hear, and security from choppers then going to a 1k is just putting a bullet in my head... If heat was a concern, then I'd have really made a poor mistake...

Or I can use the 400, grow for my first 3 months, if I have susscess I can upgrade to a 1k or not or buy another 400 and just have 2 tents... Just a thought :p

So what I need is a inline fan to connect to my light. Thinking of buying a 4" TD series inline fan 100 CFM

Careful there Red...Down boy...Smoking pot may be fun; non-addictive and not get you into too much trouble BUT getting a start on growing it in a non-MMJ state at your age would cause me to ask if you ought not cut back some on those testosterone injections...There is an adrenaline rush in getting away, undetected, with something edgy; I agree...I, too, am more than half past sixty and having my share of fun in the garden but then again I started my hobby about the time "Tricky Dick" was getting sworn in...

Some things for you to consider are; how tied to this pastime you are going to be. I just spent a total of 12 hours (Yeah, I know where to get a trimmer) manicuring 17oz...How many people are going to know what you are up to??? What are you going to do with the harvest??? What are the consequences of my actions if caught??? Yes, your house, car and assets can be seized by local, state and Federal gov...Is my family going to know??? Are my grandkids or my new hook-up from e-Harmony gonna spend the night???

Have you thought about starting with an indoor tomato grow??? See what you are getting into without risking jail time??? You will get all the exposure to indoor pot growing experience you will need if you wish to follow through on a career in the dope business.

If you are looking for something new & fun you might try fly fishing; equally expensive, frustrating to learn and fun when you "think" you have it down pat. You can add to that tying your own flies and then guiding for money, show off your skills on a different web site...OR...Mixed Martial Arts...Hell I don't know; you are over sixty; just be good to yourself.

BTW...Harvesting monthly (I don't know the size of the tents and hydro you are thinking of) will over whelm your ass and then your house...Consider room to dry and cure; not to mention your new HVAC and solar panels to go off grid in the Fla summers. I try to harvest a plant a week (about four oz) from a 3x3 veg & 5x5 flower tent with auto-water and fert. Takes about eight hours a week for finish product If I needed it for the money I would go back into real estate development ...If you are serious about this I can hear Cali, Washington state or Colorado calling your name.

Think this through. You are not off to a good start...All the best!!! I mean it...FWIW

As is said in Spanish - "Con cuidado, hombre". Read up on RICO and CCE and think again about using that house.

Red, Red, Red, What it is that you need to fear most is exactly what it is that you don't know followed by what you think it is you know that is wrong...You are throwing money away...You are my age otherwise I would never have spent this time here thinking you to be a fukked up kid with a credit card...The size operation you are thinking of does not require tents...It requires the entire rooms of the entire house...There is a saying I use in business...Never argue with an ignoramus. An ignoramus will defend to the death the right to remain ignorant...Why do you bother to ask questions when the answer doesn't matter?

Check out plasm lighting backed up by LEDs in a vertical grow when you get a chance...I am outta here...FWIW
