Moving to the US

It depends no what the criminal record is for of course, but for even something like drink driving expect a 5 year ban before possibility of probation which can involve interviews and that lot, and then a further 5 years before you can simply expect to be let across the border. Depending on what the conviction was for, it could be a lifetime ban from the country.

i have convictions myself and it stopped me starting a job around a year ago, they asked if i'd been in trouble in the last 5 years and becuase i had i couldn't start it. so like TTT says depending on what you were in trouble for, after 5 years you're all good.
saying that i have a few friends in aus right now and one of them was convicted at the same time as me and it didn't stop him getting in. He's been there for over a year now, has a job and is sorted.

It seems to be an online game for you where you try to out-piss-off your opponent... but I'll bite nevertheless.

and as a voting, tax paying American I have every right to bitch about the state of my country.
Absolutely, and why I clearly said: "Bitching about your own country is healthy and normal in western society"

I made assumptions about your lack of knowledge regarding how messed up other countries are and I think I'm spot on. I specifically 'asked' you, so you could perhaps start seeing things from a more realistic perspective. In general Americans are a lot more civilized than pretty much the entire fucking rest of the world. You don't see that when you go to another country as a tourist and people want your USD...

I've taken an almost instant dislike to you, which is unusual. I can only figure there's a reason for that....oh yes, I've got it. It's because your attitude is so much like the racist, bible-thumping, right-wing redneck side of my family I left so far behind.
And somehow I should care whether you like me? You don't even like your own country... But do read my other posts in TnT. Really, please do, just so you can see what a ridiculous assumptions those are. Because I don't hate on the US like ya'll do (and I do love them stars and stripes) I have to be a redneck? That makes you as ignorant as an uhm... a redneck? Bible-thumpin... And racist on top of it? Dude... I can honestly say that's a first anyone ever called me one of those. Don't reflect what you hate about yourself and your family on me. The name calling itself, comment on spelling, pathetic and completely non-applicable insults, are nothing more to me than your inability to argument your opinion.

As for the comment about picking a state that's ok, I'm sure "he" did get the point.

EDIT: Because this is what we do when we have another point to make, not just make a double post.
So desperate to be right about something huh? Well, fine, you are right, I should have edited instead of double-posting. Good boy, maybe Sunnie will "like" you for it :)

first off its SUNNI. and you got a problem with me? cause i sure the fuck didnt do anything to you. but ive seeny ou been bashing me all up in this thread just because of my opinions.

FYI it wouldnt have mattered what country he picked i still would tell him to research it, and ask questions about it, and check for things like response times on natural disasters because he wants to surf.

The US wouldn't be so bad if everyone would get off their high horse and realize that they're not all entitled to have the world grovel at their feet and worship them...by them, I mean just a big majority of people here that feel the need to throw their opinions around like they're the law.
Just my opinion, though! ;P Hoping that I can get myself out of here before I die.

Haven't you read it? I cannot spell.

I think you know the answer to that question. I do however have a problem with anti-Americanism for reasons I explained, and that's quite the understatement. In 10-20 years you will have the same problems and will look a the US to see how they solved their problems. Bash a government or certain politician(s), don't stereotype and bash the US.

but I've seen you been bashing me all up in this thread just because of my opinions.
Wow... I'm too lazy to read my previous posts but I think I only directed one small part to you, the one about welfare. (Check the unemployment rates in Spain and you might get why I brought up that other topic). Come on... checking welfare options before you move to a country? That's just wrong. Ask the ones who'd be approving (errr... denying) your visa. The other times I mentioned you were clearly directed to the punk.

Frankly normally I would quickly apologize since you are a mod and all and I very much prefer RIU over the morons in our local forums, but if I call someone out on sucking up to you while being a prick himself I obviously mean no offense to you.

You should probably look into it more before .. I dont wanna say too much really because I have a lot good american friends on here and I generaly never speak politics but I would stay far far far away from that country
+
Why in the, hell would you want to move to such a place?
I see I'm not the only one who's spelling deteriorates under certain circumstances. That's a joke, lighten up please.

Reason for quoting those is to point out that you cannot possibly be surprised at least one person responded like I did.

So, to conclude, what's the message here? That you can bitch about the USA because you are a mod and and will start acting like a tough guy ("do you have a problem with me?") if someone strongly disagrees with your bashing and insulting? Is that how things work in Canada?

"Moderating" means maintaining a balance. If you want to go that far with your bashing and insults you don't post as a mod but as a member who I will gladly dispute.

mod or not i wouldve said what i said stop bringing my "moderator" status into this, because frankly it means nothing. Not sure why you think im using it as a title like that I wouldnt. I can bitch about usa because I want to because im a human not because im a moderator. Am i not allowed to part take in conversations on the board because im amoderator? I believe im fully entitled to part take in a conversation moderator or not so simply ignore the title and carry on.

Your words, I've said nothing of the alike. Just saying it comes with a responsibility inherit to the word moderator.

so simply ignore the title
That was exactly what I was doing until you seemingly made it about me having a problem with you rather than with your bashing.

and carry on.
Nah thanks, I'm done, I can see where this is going and it's not my intended direction so I will take what I think was BarnBuster's advice to someone in another thread, "say what you have to say and move on".

You can pick my brain anytime though, might even learn a thing or two ;)
