So just made some ISO hash out of BHO...

I've always been intrigued by the quick and easy process of producing ISO hash. It seems there are just too many idiots out there that blow themselves up or set themselves on fire in the process of making it that it has gotten a bad wrap and BHO has taken over as the preferred process of oil making.

Well to make a long story short, I was making some BHO with a buddy one day and I had to burn out but left my pyrex dish behind so my pal could finish his run. I got my pan back a couple weeks later with all this BHO residue allover the pan and my wife flipped the shit out, but I assured her I would get it clean with some rubbing alcohol and all would be well again with her cake dish.

After thinking about just wasting all that sweet BHO residue down the drain of my kitchen sink....jonny had an idea!

Jonny was then determined to salvage that beautiful batch of stuck on BHO and harvest it with a nice ISO wash, but, I'll admit...I was skeptical of any real return at all and figured it would probably yield little to no result, but I was curious.

So, long story short...I swished some 91% ISO in the dish and popped it on top of the steamer tray on my rice cooker and let it sit for about 20 minutes. The liquid was reduced significantly at which point I turned my burner on my stove on the warm setting which my thermometer showed to be 140 degrees F. I set the pyrex dish on there for about 10 minutes and oh shit was jonny happy when he saw the fruits of his labor!

Have you ever seen that dark amber rick simpson oil? That's exactly what my razor blade scraped up. You can tell when all the ISO is gone just by taking your time and heating the liquid gently and putting your sniffer over the pan...if you still smell iso, it ain't ready. Anyhow, I scraped up a beautiful little nugget of dark amber oil which I promptly smoked in my pipe with a little bud wrapped around it so it burns evenly.

Still have a half a pipe of this shit staring me down :)

I still have 1/2 my trim from my last harvest and I think I will go ahead and run it through an ISO wash and repeat the process b/c ISO seems to be the easiest way to make hash oil in my opinion. BHO is great but the cost of the cans is just too much in my opinion on top of the fact that you have to be super cautious of explosions even when processing small batches as opposed to an iso wash which is much more stable and doesn't produce gas that floats around the floor of your work area b/c it's heavier than air.

To each his / her own though I suppose, but I sure like this ISO method for it's affordability, ease of processing, and beautiful outcome. No stupid picks and dental tools required b/c the finished ISO product is stable without all of the process that you have to go through purging BHO in the various tedious and time consuming methods that are out there.

Just 2 razor blades...one to scrape it up, and one to scrape it off when it hardens in about 30 seconds after removing it from the pyrex dish that was on the 140 degree F stove. Roll into a ball...and ENJOY!@

check out profpotsnob's method for some good tips on this

I had trouble finding his method but I just watched rick simpson's recipe and it's pretty basic really. Mix your plant material with the ISO in a stainless steel container for 2-3 minutes and then strain through a coffee filter. Place your wash into a rice cooker outside and away from any open flame, add a small amount of water and then evaporate off the ISO. Pour into a smaller metal measuring cup and pop it on a coffee warmer for a couple of hours and you're done = finished product :)

To hell with BHO fellas....jonny's god a brand new bag!

I'll try and find it. Simpson Oil is awesome for it's purpose, but if you are going for pure smoking pleasure there are a couple (small)changes you might wanna make .

hehe if thats the case, follow the link in my sig and youll be a happy guy.

Good shit in that thread oakley! I like your style man...100% efficiency with marginal waste. I see exactly what you mean when you talk about the impurities and heating the oil that turns it dark because dark oil is exactly what I got. I think I will try some 99% ISO wash like you did in your tutorial and I'll evaporate in my rice cooker in front of the large window in my living room with a nice fan blowing over it. Thanks for the tutorial oakley!

x10 on oakleys method. and dont do a 2-3 min wash, you'll get too much chlorophyll in the end result and will taste "green". i do 15-30 sec at the most washes. if your draining liquid looks anything more than a nice golden color, your wash times are too long.
