Just as a note to all the CFL haters out there..my nugs are rock hard and did not use any hormone products like purple maxx or gravity. CFLS will create dense nugs as long as you feed her and keep those lights super close. I use approx 200 actual watts of light in a 1 foot cubic space so that also helps.
Thanks Tim! It always feels good to hear compliments haha. Especially being my first grow and all. For drying and curing I will be using a simple method. I am going to hang dry them until the weed is dry but the stems can still bend. At that point I will put them in a tupperware or jar with a hygrometer. I will slowly burp the jar until the Relative humidity is in the same of a well cured cigar which is around 68%, might go a little lower to like 65%.
What alot of people don't realize is that Amber does not give you 'couchlock'. In fact the amber trichs have no THC at all, the color is because the THC has degraded to CDC and CBD. I am not a medical patient so CBD and CDC have no use for me.
i have grown twice and currently working on my 3rd (week 1 of flower), and although i have no experience with other methods, fluorescent lights work well. plus using them in a rubbermaid container makes it small, easy to work with, easy to hide, inexpensive...no doubt hid lights work better but if your on a budget the method we employed works great.
when i cured mine i used mason jars, no hygrometer just the squeeze test. only thing about the mason jars is we had to swirl the jar around to get the weed to seperate and dry properly, and i felt bad doing it, like i was shaking my baby or something.
i was unaware of that. most the research i did suggested 1/2 cloudy 1/2 amber for the couchlock effect, which is what i want. sometimes my buddy gets some "medical" shit and im a little hesitant to buy cuz, like you said, it often has specific purposes and i just wanna get stoned. i'll have to do some more research, which i always do anyway, but its god you bring that up. the thing that gets me is that the color of the trich matters in the type of stone you get (couchlock vs energenic), but also the species (indica or sativa). ill need to do more research on this (even tho i should probably know this like the back of my hand already...fucking stoner)
