Your in your element now bro. I'm starting to picture the technique a bit. You're filling the blanks in nicely as you update. I was going to try a mainliner for my next grow but the reality of summer growing in my air conditioner-less setup has me hesitant. I really want to have all my variables ideal before I devote a full on effort to deciding if I can make it work. So I think I'm gonna go with a 12/12 from clone sog for my summer grow. Nice and simple, quick and easy. Then I am gonna pop my freebie beans and try 2, 4 and 8 head mainliners. Taking some serious notes here and I'll be PM'ing a few more detailed questions your way. Thanks again!
I`d say you got your system down pretty good mate, temperature is always a battle. But hey, that`s why I grow Kushes (high tolerance for heat generally speaking), haha. Feel free to PM anytime mate, generally goes to e-mail and I`ll get to you pretty quick :). Cheers Stone

Right on stone - if you are looking to bring mainling home, this thread is where it's at. KC is consolidating and filling in the gaps of the 2k+ posts in the original Mainling thread. Stay subbed!
Appreciate it Yankee. Deemonstration is getting more views than I was expecting so I hope people are learning as we go. These are a little tougher to ML because they`re so damn dense with some phenos of the Cataract. Looking forward to documenting a single plant Blue Dream or something equivilant, 16 heads, 7-10 gallon container, just to see the potential ...

Hey KC I tried to PM you bout what we were talking bout over in stones thread but Im having problems with my outgoing... Let me know if you got it when you get a chance or send me a PM as it seems I can answer back no prob thanks.
I think I got it and sent back already Soup ... you may want to get your PM box sorted or something, haha. Always feel free to fire back though, I`ll get back to you again :)

Heading to get the Terra Flores, Silica Blast, and Sweet Raw tomorrow on a little nute run to fill out the home garden, haha. Adjusted the light up about 4 inches and have seen a 7-10F drop in day temperatures, not overly worried about stretching over the next 3-4 weeks (another foot and change potentially in vertical), so preparing for the hungry girls needs.

Feeding for the following weeks will look something like this:

Week 0 - 5ml/ Terra Vega + 1drop/L SuperThrive (plus last feeding of straight 5ml/L CaMg to address deficiency and our abundance of excess N)
Week 1-2 - 6ml/L Terra Flores + 1drop/L SuperThrive every other feeding
Week 3 - Above + 2-3ml/L PK13-14
Week 4-5 - 6ml/L Terra Flores + Silica Blast
Week 6-6.5 - Above + Sweet Raw
Last 7-10 Days - Flush

You know what to expect now, any questions don`t hesitate to ask. Grab a chair and some smoke, and enjoy each others company. Puff, puff, pass ---> `Coffee` pheno OG18 :joint:. Keep it green,

KC :weed:

Wow what a crazy morning. I could use some of that coffee pheno O.G.18. I guess I'll have to settle for some Skunk#1. I have a Skunk#1 and an Iced Grapefruit I'm mainlining and I have to say they are loving the domination and tieing. The Skunk#1 is really shining with this technique, would have to recommend it. The Blue O.G. and the Sour Blueberry aren't responding as well but I think they will pick up. I'll let everybody know how these strains come along. (not trying to jack your thread K.C. just want to let people know how these strains work) I love to see someone keeping the technique alive with this thread, good looking out K.C. Keep it coming bro. Good luck, Good grow, Be safe, :peace: out.

So I seemed to have properly diagnosed our issues in the tent recently, girls had a little too much N stored up and were definitely needing the CaMg as I hadn`t been supplementing at all with 0ppm Distilled water to this point :wall:. Plants seemed to have gotten what the needed though from the soil, just this point forward I`ll hve to pay slightly better attention. Leaf tips are already straightening or straight and our color is becoming more uniform across (take note that lovely dark green you guys like is not always a good thing, pushed a little too hard ;)). Here`s the ladies today, Day 5,

IMG-20130514-00521.jpg
Family Shot, adjusting ever so well to flower, starting to show signs of wanting her P though. Terra Flores schedule to start with next feeding

IMG-20130514-00522.jpg
Leader, really able to tell where each head is coming up now. Tallest of which will be trained back to the stem inwards to spread canopy. Thinking of going this one minus any netting as the height is not going to be a problem. May implememnt something later for weight suport though ...

IMG-20130514-00523.jpg
Mohican, the now war-veteran. Each of the 2, 4-headed clusters have come into the fold exactly as planned though. watching that one head over the next few for new growth or regrowth, so far so good

IMG-20130514-00524.jpg
Mrs. O, due for another spreading by start of Week 1, final adjustments on her. Will be a model Main Line (with a her distinct twist ;))

IMG-20130514-00525.jpg
... andJill, spreading nicely. This is going to be some killer hash-bud I`m telling you. Will definitely post that for you guys when the time comes. Lovely ...

And our average temperature for the day. Happy with the low RH, especially with the amount these girls are drinking. Going to be humid tomorrow so I`ll keep an eye on it. One more Blizzard to come in the following week for the closest right corner to kill the hot spot I`ve noticed on that end on the tent.

Thanks for stopping in, will keep you updated. Keep it green,

Hey KC nice update. Got some specialty roasted coffee beans from my buddy and had to try some so can't sleep just yet. Guatemalan and Sumatran, tried the Guata today, really good. I have been thinking about my future mainliner and have some ideas to run past you.

First one, is there a point of diminishing returns in how many heads you run? Is there a size and yield difference between a 4 and 8 say?

Second, sounds like you may have done this. Mainlining 8 heads and using a screen to manage height. I guess my question would be how far down the "arms" do you expect flowers? If I were to use a screen how far would you recommend letting them stretch over the screen level.

Thanks man. Peace

If I were to have screened this run, I`d be screening Leader at the end of this week at the level it`s at now (about 8 inches off pot). It should be a budsickle all the way up if it follows the OG18 I`m accustomed to, only minor, minor trimming will be needed to the underbrush as we`ve done so much already

Thanks for the input Yankee and Stone, if anything else is fuzzy don`t hestitate to ask. Thread is ultimate for you guys, the girls however ... ;). Keep it green all,

KC :weed:

Great update KC, your girls are looking beautiful :D that Mrs O is a fine looking girl ;)
Thanks EC, just a mini, will do a comprehensive Friday for Week 1, Day 8 I guess. I`m actually favouring Mohican now more than ever, now she`s been wounded, and is my experiment of the bunch, can`t help but give her a bit of special attention :). Always like hearing from ya mate

Ms. O def has the popular vote!
... and she also recieves an extra special treatment every so often, haha. Knowing that if she suffers I`ll have more people to answer to than myself ... ;). She gets the spread again later today so she`ll be just about right for the update Friday

Also wanted to just clarify a bit for you Stone (and perhaps others) as I just cliffed it for you earlier, haha. Leader is done with traditional 8-headed technique (barring selectively topping due to bush), Mrs. O has been done into 4 traditionally, and Mohican got the 4-headed treatment but the undernodes i did not remove like I did on Mrs. O... The idea being is we`re going to have a bit of a test as to whether the undernodes will affect the yield (more increase to Leaders 8, or similar to Mrs. O`s dedicated 4).

In essence, Mohican has 8 heads, however 4 of which are not dominant. Want to see if those take from the yield or if we can cheat a bit, mainline for 4 with Kush varieties, but leave two dense sets as to have two, 4-headed sides. Would be really cool to have each arm supporting perhaps 8 or 16 eventually ... :bigjoint:

Will do some good detail with the next update guys and into June here you`ll really have an idea of how it all fills out (especially when BuKu gets in there!!). Keep it green, thanks again,

That's crazy K.C. about the letting some under nodes finish up as well and see about the yield. That's exactly what I'm doing right now. I've grown Skunk#1 many times and have always just had the one main-line or just grown her topped a couple of times. I've always kept close records of yields and descriptions of what they look like and final weight in all my grow journals. I like to keep a comp book in my grow and write down thoughts everyday. Anyways this time I left the 4th node branches and have been topping and maintaining them the same as the 5th that is the true main-line. I wanted to see how the yield would be affected and maybe have grade A and B meds or something. I kept a pretty similar plant (same sat. indica %) next to it for reference as well. I broke a limb off being to aggressive with the control plant, but just made a clone. I really enjoy this method the most because it gives such an even distribution of cannabanoids across all your flowers. I'm really curious what the difference would be between the 5th and 4th node. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one curious about alterations to the main plan, although we both might be reporting nug's had it right in the first place. Oh well you don't know till you try. As I've said a million times I love your thread bro, keep it comin. Good luck, Good grow, Be safe, :peace: out.

Thanks for stopping by Myco, never stop experimenting, keeps you sharp IMO :)

Just got back from the hydro store, all the CANNA is on back-order so I`ve decided to go to my normal regime to finish these ladies up (even thoug I hate changing lines through a grow). Picked up some Boti PBPB Soil formula and some Silica Blast for the stressed ladies. So having posted ...

Feeding for the following weeks will look something like this:

Week 0 - 5ml/ Terra Vega + 1drop/L SuperThrive (plus last feeding of straight 5ml/L CaMg to address deficiency and our abundance of excess N)
Week 1-2 - 6ml/L Terra Flores + 1drop/L SuperThrive every other feeding
Week 3 - Above + 2-3ml/L PK13-14
Week 4-5 - 6ml/L Terra Flores + Silica Blast
Week 6-6.5 - Above + Sweet Raw
Last 7-10 Days - Flush
KC :weed:
... I wanted to refresh it by stating the new mix in case anyone is noting as we go:

IMG-20130515-00527.jpgIMG-20130515-00528.jpg
... and our newest additions, and shot of everything that will be used for remainder of flowering (minus Sweet Raw, not pictured *later*). Will also note, first feeding will be as follows,

4ml / Gallon - PB Pro Bloom
5ml / Gallon - CalMag
1.25ml / Gallon - Silica Blast

Heading into the tent to do some last bits of training and check on Mohicans injuries (should love the Silica Blast tonight). Will take shots of process, but holding out until Friday for some before/after`s for you guys. My favourite time of the whole process is the coming week or two for change(s) happening so often. Said I`d try to keep you guys in the loop, thanks for hanging with me,

Just monitor your pH with the silica blast....it will cause it to climb in most cases. I was instructed to add it to the water first before anything else. I use it mostly during summer months when temps are high. Good luck ATB!

Exactly why I picked this up Supa, been up around the 88-90 range during these warmer days, so want to keep them happy. My PH is around 6.1-6.2 when I add and the Silica puts me up to around 6.5-6.6 usually (always adding first!), thanks for adding that in and good to see ya mate. Expect to see more of you soon here :)

you growing in a soiless mix?...
Negative sir, organic soil mix - Soil, Peat Moss, Compost, Humus, Perlite and added mycorrhizae. Flower mix was pre-treated with Rhizotonic as supplmental root food and myco encouragement tool. Otherwise store-purchased, nutrient suppplemented soil mate. Good to see you as well Skunky, good update in a few

Sorry I missed this earlier bro, but do you run your silica straight thru to harvest??? Ive always found its good to start cutting it out a couple weeks before the flush and usually start to taper as early as week 3 of flower. Some say it gives a strange taste on even well cured erb and I find it slightly changes my buds growth structure if taken even the slightest bit over the line too close to harvest. Just my .02 and I respect your opinion which is why I ask. -S0uP
