Girls are looking good KC. How long into flower will you train Leader and how many heads do you plan (may have missed this bit in an earlier post)?

Is that Moh on the left? Sheesh I shoulda been paying more attention to her! She is gonna be very nice.
You bet ... ;). Tried to say I had a hunch from the beginning on this one. Seems to be doing great even though I can see the stem is not fully attached at the arms

Was just about to say the same thing Soup, there is some super fat leaves in there :)
Thanks EC and Soup, those huge beasts on Mrs. O are my indicator leaves, you can see that dark rich green subsiding a bit from previous pictures, so the CaMg and taper of N is doing it`s thing :). Good seein` ya EC

Sorry I missed this earlier bro, but do you run your silica straight thru to harvest??? Ive always found its good to start cutting it out a couple weeks before the flush and usually start to taper as early as week 3 of flower. Some say it gives a strange taste on even well cured erb and I find it slightly changes my buds growth structure if taken even the slightest bit over the line too close to harvest. Just my .02 and I respect your opinion which is why I ask. -S0uP
Well you`ve found right Soup. Basically the Silica is for helping the plant through extreme conditions (i.e. the Mainlining, high temperatures, etc.) and I like to use it usually from final container transplant (pre-flower), right through to week 5-6 depending on strain, but never at it`s recommended dosage either (1.25ml/gallon - teaspoon). I run it until I supplement the Sweet, I never like to have too many additives in my soil at one time. Never noticed a taste difference, probably because I use the Sweet after discontinuing the SB, gives the plants natural oils time to flourish before flushing I`d assume. Thanks for stopping in Soup, feel free to ask away if something isn`t clicking for ya

No worries Yankee, Leader is basically done now, with the exception of tightening the ties every so often until week 3-4 and we see blooms appearing in abundance. Then the ties come off completely and we let the girls strengthen up a touch for weight. She is 8-headed, but should have buds right up each arm I`m hoping to form solid :)

The ladies look real good after the drink last night (per gallon - 5ml CalMag, 4ml Pro Bloom, 1.25ml Silica Blast), drinking about 2.5L each (2 for Jill) every 3-4 days now easy. Difficiencies are on their way out, and there`s a little less stretching everyday which means our dark cycle may have shaved us some time in transition. Will be keeping my eyes out for pre-flowers for you guys, will do a nice update tomorrow at some point.

Thanks again, you guys are awesome keeping the thread alive. Hoping to see some other Cataract Journals start poppin`up here eventually. Peace guys, keep it green,

KC :weed:

Not too shabby on the multi-quoting yourself KC.

Morning wake and bake--puff, puff, pass one of my next grow candidates GHS Trainwreck. She's fat, dense and frosty. Lovin it.

Peace

I ended up with a caddy wampus time schedule on my grow this time. I usually have 4-6 girls in flower 4-6 in veg and then I'd be popping babies or taking clones for the roll over. Well I had plants inside vegging for the outdoors, and my grow buddy moved and we had to shut him down move his garden and get him set back up. It's been as crazy as cat shit this year! I really wanted to chime in and say that reading this everyday the last couple of weeks has really helped me get my mind back focused on MY garden. I really can't say i've been neglectful to my girls, I just haven't had as much time as normal with them. I have my Skunk#1 all trained up with 6 tops on the 4th node and 8 on the 5th for a total of 14 tops at the moment. I have a Menage a Trois topped and trained with 6 because of an accident that took an arm, but yielded a clone. I also have an Iced Grapefruit with 2 tops so far and I think I'm going the route of the Skunk#1 and going with the 2 levels again. I like the concept of grade A and B the more I think of it. I just hope I don't mess it all up by taking away from quality from the top and end up with all B grade. You just don't know till the end of the grow! You are very correct about trying new theories and ideas to keep your skills sharp and to keep learning. Besides being fun expirements usually teach you a ton of things you just can't read in many places, and just don't pick up through the normal course of a grow. I found that a good diet of silicates and constant bending and working of my plants without breaking tissue walls and supercropping and hard stressing can build them just as strong, if not stronger. I like to go to my grow in the morning and just pinch (not crush) the hell out of my girls working the stems until slightly soft and plyable and then bending her in all directions and leaving her bent over like a used hooker, and then let her pick herself up and everytime she's stronger for it. Last grow if the damn flowers hadn't been so big the stems could have taken the weight, but I finally had to put up some supports. I've seen some peoples grows and the plants look like rubber with absolutely no rigidity in the stems. I know big buds weigh alot, but for the most part with some work this can be avoided. Sorry for the rant, I just want everyone to have great success. Everything is looking beautiful K.C. It's good to see you spreading what seems to be the secret of the silica. You can also get silica in stone form for hydroponic media and use it in your soil for aeration like perlite, and it will help your plant with stresses, really is good stuff, but can be easily overdone in liquid form. If used late in flowering I hear it can wreck your final meds as well, so everything in moderation, and with love. Good luck, good grow, Be safe, :peace: out.

So no pictures tonight guys, but I did see my first signs of feminism (that word looks wierd to spell) for all the ladies but Mohican (likely stunted from having a huge stem splice). That 30-36 hour dark period really does wonders I tell you what. Today Thursday, means we`re day 7 for the Cataract + Jill, and the Buku just had it`s lights killed for it`s 30-hour dark cycle. Then it`s off to the flower room, propped up flush with the rest of the ladies :D.

BuKu was topped today at node 2 before darkness, having a run at real short veg times for that strain to see how it affects it later in flower (and I`m likely moving out August 1st, haha). I`ll be able to run everything at the same time in the same spot with ease now, and will take you guys all the way through flower, drying, curing, and I`m even going to document my water/ice hash process for the first time. So from seed to smoke you guys will see it all, thanks for being with me. Update tomorrow for Day 8 flower, keep it green,

KC :weed:

Amazing stuff guys, So Silica is like a Prozac for weed, chills it out a bit when things are stressing it out ?. Ironic to think that a plant who's main purpose is to chill out the user needs a bit of TLC itself now and then. Keep it coming guys this thread is like a college.

005.jpgHey KC what's good brother. Just saying hi and things are looking goooood mang. Keep up the good work, sorry I just been skimming your thread and not joining in, just soo busy you know. And I'm retired now haha laugh my ass off. I'll catch up with ya though soon. Got some of T's strains for you now too ; !)

I have been adding dolmite lime to my OF for a few years now. Can't figure out why I am getting what looks like a cal/mag def (rust spots which eventually take over the entire leave) though. Maybe I should be checking my ph more often,,,I shoot for the high 6's but don't double check often enough. Low 6's could lead to a cal/mag deficiancy. The nutrients are Cornucopia, the local hydro guys own mix http://www.cornucopiaplus.com/grow.html plus Earth Juice Catylyst.

Blood meal is a great supplement, high in calcium. You wouldn't think that with OF I would need to add too many/any supplements. I could try a straight cal/mag supplement but the guy who makes the Cornucopia says I shouldn't need it with those nutes

This example is a bit extreme but this is the problem I have been having starting the second half of flower. It doesn't look like a deficiancy to me but more of a lock out issue.

Any ideas?

Highlander I have noticed the same problems in the second half of flower. I have had good results by raising my ph 0.3-0.5 after about the middle of week 3. I run hempy buckets so your soil ph will be higher but for an example, I run 5.8 thru veg and bump up to about 6.0 during transition. I slowly raise it from week 3 till I'm around 6.4 by weeks 6-7. JME but seems to help some.

My other mix at the Factory uses a complete-cycle mixture which has the dolomite for PH stability. Addressed the CaMg issues, PH is pretty bang on @ 6.5, just hadn`t supplemented any CaMg to the distilled water I had been using. Girls are rapidly recovering now that 2 waterings have contained a slightly higher CaMg dosage than normal. If you`re interestedd I would post a complete mix for the Factory set-up that requires nothing but water, and our mistings with very mild Silica and ST :)

Pretty well, build-up for extremes. Bit of a tolerance boost if you will. Glad you`re enjoying the thread Bilbo, this was the intention :D

Freeze all of it as quick as you can EC !! Works the best of the product is still somewhat `wet` after trimming. You can store it until we`re ready, and you can follow along with us!!

Your PH seems off to me mate, lock-out of Ca and Iron and giving that effect of almost being under/over watered. Using any Silicas? Reusing your mix? Just needs a PH spike and a shot of CalMag (could do about 150-200ppm of Silicates, and another 200ppm of CaMg). About the 6-7 and change week mark I`m guessing HC? Hope to see you around more often Caveman !!

** Edit working a special strain right now for ya buddy, BlackBerry OG Kush (Black Domina (Domina pheno) x Strawberry Cough x my OG18 `coffe pheno`). Should be awesome if I can get the flavor and vigor the way I want :D **

We`ll definitely have to compare some soil mixtures here eventually Skunky. Glad to see you`ve come from the corner to post fourthwith, haha.

Excellent activity guys, got a nice update for you all in a few minutes. Lots of pictures so bear with me, gonna be a decent one today. Peace, love, and keep it green,

Alright all, been waiting to see these ladies start to transistion and it`s starting to happen over these next couple days. Seeing the results of the extended dark cycle, hoping to shave a few days of the pre-flower period, now see sex signs on all ladies.

Here`s some shots of the Ladies, Last Update - Today

IMG-20130515-00535.jpg IMG-20130517-00536.jpg
The family Day 6 - Day 8, see the green leveling out, leaf edges becoming uniform again. Ladies are transitioning well

IMG-20130517-00541.jpg IMG-20130517-00542.jpg IMG-20130517-00543.jpg IMG-20130517-00538.jpg
... shots of Mrs. O, Jill, and Leader respectively, plus a shot of the damaged head from Hohican that had to be removed :(. But from that cutting, frees up more space on canopy ... so we get some thing like this process ...

Mohican

IMG-20130517-00545.jpg
First shot is some cropping we`ve done to the remaining 3 heads, and appropriate ties (I`m anal about canopy level)..

IMG-20130517-00546.jpg IMG-20130517-00547.jpg IMG-20130517-00548.jpg
... Close-up next for perspective. Some growth shots and her structure, last is pre-flowers (need a better camera...)

Mrs. Orange

IMG-20130517-00549.jpg
Looking pretty sexy, but needs to trim a few. Her fat skirt is making airflow pretty none-existant down there, shear, shear ...

IMG-20130517-00550.jpg IMG-20130517-00551.jpg IMG-20130517-00552.jpg
... Legs, some clearing, and some of our weight-loss, really green storage leaves

IMG-20130517-00553.jpg IMG-20130517-00554.jpg
A few shots of the stuff that gets pinched. Before and after, if it doesn`t grow on a dominant branch, it gets pinched, redirecting growth ...

IMG-20130517-00555.jpg IMG-20130517-00556.jpg IMG-20130517-00558.jpg IMG-20130517-00559.jpg
... and after she`s been re-tied, trimmed back. And a few of her strong arms and the last shot (however poor) is to show the resin glands forming on the fans already .... Liking that!!

Leader

IMG-20130517-00560.jpg
Forming exactly like I wanted her to ... :D

IMG-20130517-00561.jpg IMG-20130517-00563.jpg IMG-20130517-00564.jpg IMG-20130517-00565.jpg
... shots of her trunk, top view (yum...), and bottom 4 and top 4 heads respectively close-up

IMG-20130517-00566.jpg
Strong to support some weight ... My pride and joy of this run, went through a lot

Jill

IMG-20130517-00567.jpg IMG-20130517-00568.jpg
Pre-training and a top-view ...

IMG-20130517-00570.jpg IMG-20130517-00571.jpg IMG-20130517-00572.jpg
IMG-20130517-00573.jpg
... some of the bottom shoot I thought would explode a bit more with cropping early just didn`t make the grade. Opens up for airflow and will now dedicate 4 lovely heads for flowers ...

IMG-20130517-00574.jpg IMG-20130517-00575.jpg IMG-20130517-00576.jpg
... and re-tied, front and top views, and a nice shot of her top that will be buds from that split right up ... :D

IMG-20130517-00569.jpg
... and the only plant that I had any doubt of feminism at all showed me she is lady after all. Lovely fast-flowering Sativa high buds, going to like making a bit of hash from her as well ...

IMG-20130517-00577.jpg IMG-20130517-00578.jpg
... and our Family after last bits of training. Only things added from this point forward will be for support purposes. Loving that even canopy in the second shot, flush, and vegetative growth should half by end-of-week for almost all these ladies

IMG-20130517-00579.jpg
... and something for the road, midway through Day 8 of flower. going to look more and more full every week (especially with BuKu being added to tent tomorrow - update will follow), looking forward to seeing and hearing everyone and hopefully some new people as well. Thanks for hanging in guys, timed-out twice trying to post this beast, happy growing, ATB,

KC :weed:

Now there's a nice post! Sad to hear about Moh's branch. I lost a main branch on the bluecheese right before flip and can imagine the couple tops it would have produced. Loving the even canopy, looks like you have plenty of training room to keep her even right thru. Keep it up and as green as those leaves you cut!

Dude, long post but great read! The ladies seem to be cooperating well and taking to the flower cycle. Leader is looking like a textbook mainline effort (if there was a textbook, that is)! Jill is likely going to start giving you fits over the next couple weeks - I suspect she is going to want to rise above that canopy level!

Looking good, keep it up!

Lookin good as always bro! Seems everybody lost a branch this round, I just made a clone that was an inch tall if that, that was starting 2 tops. It'll be a good start to another plant I guess, no reason to pitch a perfectly healthy specimen. The girls all look great, it's a smart looking family for sure. Can't wait to see what these girls do as far as yield. I can't wait to pop my L.A. Chocolat I received from the Tude for their 420 promo. I have to say D.N.A. Genatics are some really good gear, always been happy with the results of my grows with their strains. L.a. Confidential being just remarkable, I'm excited about a cross with chocolope, and a cross with L.A. Con and O.G. Kush oh man that's gonna be epic. I'm pretty stoked to see how this turns out for you. Let the games begin my friend! Good luck, good grow, Be safe, :peace: out.

Nice as always. I also lost a big branch yesterday when I planted my 3 foot kalashnikova thats been vegging since the end of feb. It had lots of side branches so I ended up with 10 clones out of it. If 5 of them make it I should recover the loss from that branch. Thats what I get for being to rough with the bondage.View attachment 2660657
