16th day after switching to 12/12... it seems slow. Does she look right?

Hello,

I am at day 16 of 12/12 light. She has grown a lot and just starting to see some signs of "hairs" so i guess she is female. But should I not be seeing some sign of "buds" now. Really sorry but this is my first grow and, excuse the pun, I am totally green to all of this and surprised I have managed to get this far.

Thank you in advance.

Make sure you're room is totally dark at "night" time, even a little key hole size light leak will mess up the flowering process

It's pretty light progress afa hairs growing in, but a lot of strains just don't lock out too quick, as so many factors it is strain-specific. Just to be safe, ensure all your timers are correct, none of your equipment has any lights that could be hitting the plant, and as bogildrak said ensure absolute 100% light isolation. Can't hurt to be safe, right?

even under 5kl cfls .. a lot of them it took my sativas a long time, i saw hairs at 2 weeks but nothing that resembled a canabis flower until 4 weeks or so... once you see hair, relax once you checked over for ball sacks, your in for a ride. if its a sativa everything takes longer, but i love the sativa high so much more. not just couch lock and sleep, the giggles and movie time, bust out the pineapple express. lol

Your lights don't look like flowering lights.....
I have 4 CFL lights all are as follows:

Diall Energy Saving 35W Spiral E27

35W wattage, equivalent to a 151W incandescent bulbLight

output: 2285 Lumens.

2700k colour temperature.

From what I understand I 2700k is ok for flowering but please correct me if I am wrong.

Also with the four lights I should be getting around 9000 lumins. (I think).

Thanks

OK. First thing: Ignore all the posts except the one that says that buds dont form right after changing to 12/12.

It can take a couple weeks for the plans to begin forming what we recognize as "buds"

PLants flower because of the long dark period, not because of the light you use. 2700k is a good spectrum for flowering so your lights are OK. I dont like spiral CFLs for growing but thats up to you.

A small light leak would not keep plants from flowering. A large light leak might but this isnt the issue.

EDIT:

Looking back at the pics a little closer, I see no indications of flowering or even sex. That is odd given the plants size and the time it has been in flowering.

You do have the lights set at 12/12 right?

Hello MYOB,

Thank you for the reply. Yes the lights are set to 12/12. I have double and treble check this. I also can not see any light leaks. /I may need to lower the lights slights too.

I have attempted (since the last pics) to tie down some of the large leaves so that it gives way to more light for the lower colas. I did not want to cut any of the fan leaves off as am unsure of the outcome of cutting fan leaves.

I will check the plant again tonight as the lights come on at 7pm and go off at 7am. I will get some more pics and see if we have any progress.

Also, I have seen the odd wispy white pistol when looking very close at the plant so I guess it is female. But these have only really started to appear in the last 24hrs.

Thanks

I have been using nutes but a quarter of the dose recommended on the bottle. Maybe ill increase the dose on the next water tonight.

I am watering every two days approx as this is when it seems that the top couple of inches of soil become dry.

Should I add nutes every time I water and should I be watering more / less often?

Thanks

best to only use nutes every second or third watering, or some say nute-water-water-nutes......

I see you have a few yellow spots on the bottom leaves.....if that continues you could consider Cal-Mag....seems to be a popular supplement

cheers

Thanks Sun King. I will water without nutes tonight. Should I be watering every day now that the plant is on 12/12 and is bigger? Also, the nutes I have, and I think they are nutes, is something called maxcrop organic with seaweed extract". So I should uses this on every second or third water? I also have tomorite but have not used this. Are either any good for flowering? I cant seem to find anything else in the garden centers round here.

Thanks

well I am pretty sure this is a female now as I can see a few more hairs beginning. Still really slow or is it just because I check on her every 24 hours...

It appears that I need to water every two days as that is when the soil is fairly dry for at least and inch down.

Have watered tonight without nutes. Have also tied down fan leaves etc to try and give more light for the colas.

Im just struggling to work out why it is taking so long to show any real signs of sex or buds etc.. I guess I'm just inpatient.
