i guess i am looking for consistency. I'm from the "sticks and stones" school so I think hate speech code and laws suck ass so I don't think any speech should be banned including n-bombs. I believe banning words gives them far too much power. But since words are banned, I would like them to be at least equal and consistent. But we all know they aren't. I mean blond jokes are still acceptable, right? and calling someone a "fag" or "homo" is often overlooked or laughed off.
Right. It's just pretty obvious that calling someone a 'faggot' is much more socially acceptable, either because it's a closet bias that is more prevalent, or because people think they can use it without purveying that they are, in fact, a bigot.

you know, 'fag' has been around for so long that it's hard to shake. i was around a group of friends the other day and a bud said 'fag' and i asked him if he'd meant to say that - or something to that effect - and it was just an accident. that said, he did come through the frat system, so i'd say he's one of a handful of diamonds in that roughand even we holier than thous
