If beans are legal (just not germinated) why do they take them?

in the us of a, you know, the land of the free, and home of the brave, cannabis seeds aren't legal to even possess like they're in some countries such as the uk, spain and i do believe the netherlands..
in those countries you can possess them so long as you don't attempt to germ them.. in the us, you can't even possess them, and forget about anything dealing with germination..
even in states such as california and michigan and now the 2 legal to possess cannabis states, it's still illegal to possess and sell seeds up to this point in time, med patient or not..
oh yeah, i do believe you can possess them in canada as well, but they frown upon the importation of them from another country for some reason..

I think Cannabis Seeds are illegal in many countries, including the US and Australia. Here in the UK, it's completely legal to possess seeds, as long as you show no signs of germinating them and are strictly held as souvenirs.
The local market that I have in my town as them on display for sale on one of the stalls, the stall a few spaces down had all the paraphernalia for smoking cannabis, such as pipes, bongs, hookahs, bowls, skins, custom washable roaches etc etc. In Camden(London) when I was visiting, I saw some guy in the market there, openly selling Shroom kits and other kits to grow/make illegal drugs. It's all seen as souvenirs here and nothing is ever done about the possession of paraphernalia unless you're under the influence of a drug on the streets and you're being searched.

Thanks, That law was always a bit sketchy to me.

Guess they expect you to stumble upon naturally growing weed in those legal states.

My guess is that in the legal States, the state police won't give a shit if you're growing a plant or two, but the feds on the other hand, they'll rip your house in half to find just a smudge of a cannabis leaf or root.

lol, pretty much.. i'll never understand this country nor it's laws to say the least..

i feel pretty safe in saying that once big business figure out a way to make money off of cannabis seeds, ie, marlboro or johnson and johnson, pfizer, roche, bayer, etc, etc, etc, seed sales will quickly become legal in the us.. the only thing i fear is that they will than be patented, a'la monsanto style, which will make me very glad i am a seed whore, i mean, souvenir collector.. :D:D:D

most head shops around here on the east coast will still toss you out on your ass if you dare mention the words bong or roach clip inside of them when referring to one of their products, which i've always thought was about the most retarded thing ever as wtf do you know who smokes tobacco out of a bong, errr, water pipe i mean??

and did you just read the thread on here about bongs, err, water pipes, now being a felony to possess in the lovely state of florida come july 1st of this year? this is a big reason why i still don't think i'll ever see full scale legalization in the us in my lifetime sadly..

Fuck me... It looked like the USA might be progressing in terms of legalisation on a full scale, with Colorado, California, Michigan and Washington becoming legal or legal-ish. It makes no sense to go backwards on that now...

I genuinely believe that it will take a Civil War in order to get legalisation of Cannabis in most countries. Such a sad, sad state of affairs.

Democracy? I thought that was when you let the public decide the politics with votes on laws etc?

To be clear, its illegal in the USA under Federal law to possess VIABLE ceeds.

If they're sterile, its legal to possess them and there is a specific carveout in Federal law permitting this. Of course the only way to know if they're viable is to get them to germinate, but that's a separate can of worms. Note that its also legal to possess cannabis STEMS/stalks, so long as they have no resin on them.

Customs can still control/restrict the importation of these things, though.

On the new law in the State of FL, its NOT going to be a felony to possess a bong there.

The new law states that the SECOND sale of a bong is a class 3 felony. In other words, if you've been convicted of SELLING (not buying, and not possessing) a bong before, and you get caught selling one again, that's a felony.

IMO this law is utterly stupid. Cigarette papers and ordinary pipes are still legal, so nobody is going to have a hard time smoking weed in FL if they want to. Anyone wanting a bong badly enough will either import one in from out of State, or construct one themself thereby depriving the State of economic activity and tax revenue. Net result? Same amount of smoking weed, just slightly less of it through bongs, and at some economic cost to the State.

The only thing this law really accomplishes is ending the OPEN sale of bongs in the State . . .which is probably the point. Some North Florida/Bible belter was embarassed that you could walk into a store in his neighborhood and buy a bong, and this is the result.

Three steps up, one step back.
And don't forget, the USA has a Federal system. . .what flies in Oregon doesn't necessarily fly in Georgia.

I genuinely believe that it will take a Civil War in order to get legalisation of Cannabis in most countries. Such a sad, sad state of affairs.
Nah. . .nobody is going to war over weed.

The only thing it will take is an inevitable demographic shift.

Young people know from observation or personal experience that cannabis is mostly harmless, and as they progress upwards in age into actual voters, the laws will change accordingly.

Its basically the same thing happening now with gay marriage. Five years ago Senator Obama was against gay marriage. Two years ago President Obama was against gay marriage, yet one year ago (facing re-election) he "suddenly" changed his mind. Why? Did he REALLY have a change of heart? Of course not. . .he just stuck his finger in the wind and realized that he was on the wrong side of that issue this election cycle.

Cannabis legalization will proceed the same way. Its going to be drip. ..drip. ..drip of more states adopting a medical model, then a few with recreational models, then eventually a plurality. The Federal gov't won't just up and legalize right away, but the POTUS may choose to reschedule MMJ out of DEA Class I, permitting research and medical prescriptions. Eventually, the Fed will relent.

Democracy? I thought that was when you let the public decide the politics with votes on laws etc?
Well, to be clear, the State of CA voted just two years on this very issue of permitting recreational/full legal cannabis.

The public HAD its vote, and they said NO. . .*IN CALIFORNIA*.

If they can't legalize weed in CA as recently as that, then what hope is there in Alabama, Georgia, or other socially conservative states?

And until a majority, or at last substantial plurality of States legalize weed, what hope is there for legalization at a FEDERAL level?

You have to stand before you can walk, right?

Again, by simple demographics, this WILL happen eventually. . .its basically just a question of time.

So California, one of the highest Cannabis consuming states in America(probably) had a public vote on Cannabis and they said no?! It makes no sense, absolutely none.
I genuinely struggle to fathom things like this. Cali is known for its Cannabis growing, so many TV series/movies that have Cannabis in them are almost always going to mention in some form or another about Cali. Yet they as a state vote no?
This is a country which wants to have guns made available to the public(backed by a large majority of the public), yet they won't allow the public to smoke a herb grown in soil, in the same way that they use alcohol, as a recreational drug?! The hell is that?!

There are still a lot of older voters here.
It is surprising that Ca. voted against it. Ca is full of liberal voters.

i disagree about one line of thought here jogro.. back in the 60's with the flower children, you'd think a very larger percent of the population of the time had tried cannabis, among many other drugs, and have seen that cannabis is simply harmless, yet when these people grew up and got into power, they still didn't manage to legalize cannabis on any kind of scale what so ever..
imvho, if the flower children of the 60s managed to grow up and grow away from cannabis, what chance do the kids of today have of doing it?
