The glass used to encase HID bulbs blocks most of the UV before it gets emitted, it's just the intensity of the light that will fry lots of plants. Many of us are trying to get our grows as bright as noon on a sunny day on top of a mountain on the equator. Very few plants can handle the light intensity that cannabis can.

Not much makes me smile but the results from my veneno weigh in sure did, 188.15 grams or 6.7 oz + 3.5 oz of buku, that brings my total harvest to 10.2 oz from 5.5 oz last grow, and it brings my gram per watt up to 0.71 grams per watt from 0.39, and the way i figure it if i would have had another veneno going instead of this buku which was apparently a low yielder i would have gotten around 376.3 grams or 13.4 oz and 0.94 grams per watt, I'm really quite shocked and so very very pleased...

Thanks man! I forget to put stuff in posts all the damn time. Sounds like a nice pull! How long did you veg for? I don't like g/W because it ignores too many variables and oversimplifies things.

FJG, I wish you had a better name, I feel it's kind of offensive, but anyway that's why I just used your initials, forget the vermiculite all together...just use perlite and try co co, it will work much better.

I gotta agree with who on the perlite go with pure perlite and then work out what you want to do with it, i watered about every 3 days and i doubled my yield,..

I veged for 60 days i had some pretty bad problems in the beginning and i believe i also quite possibly stepped up the nutrients pretty slowly, my scrog crates were also not made for the buckets i used so i had some height to make up for, it wasn't by any means perfect but it sure was not bad for my second grow...

Do you guys know of anything that improves the strength of stems? I really would like to give my plants something to hold them selves up because by the end of my veneno run most of the limbs couldn't hold them selves up, also i would love to hear about any more additives i could use to help my plants out...

A silica supplement like Dyna Grow's Protekt will help. It has to be the first thing added to the solution because it will cause a sharp increase in pH and it will precipitate if the solution is acidic when it's added.

Yeah Psilo Silica is the answer and like the Duck said absolutely add it first as it will cloud your mixture if added after. It will cause a massive jump in pH sometimes high enough that its hard to get it in the right place without using a heavy dose of nutes. I stop silica feedings at about 3 weeks into flower as well...no concrete reason i just imagine its not needed after that. It will make your stalks rock hard.

Speaking of adding things first or last it has been my experience that if your water goes cloudy while mixin nutes that its better to dump it and start again as thats the chemicals binding which will cause deficiencies/lockout.

Fuckjeffgoldbloom....this last run i used just rockwool and hydroton and had no issues with pH. Like was mentioned before pure perlite works quite well and its not necessary to use vermiculite if you dont want to...but be vigilant with watering.

Duck...i notice in your BD ics that yours have a lot of white pistils at almost 10 weeks...ive noticed that this stuff will just keep going and going like that...whats the longest youve run it? 67 days is the longest ive gone and i have some in my room on day 60 atm with no girls needing to go into the room...kind of tempted to try 11 weeks or so and see what happens....I have noticed though that the best flavor seems to be around 8 weeks but they will pack on significant weight if left going.

I will be sure and pick up some of that protekt stuff i hope to see a noticeable difference in my next grow, the PH should be no problem as my tap water comes in at around 9.0, any other additives i should know about?

I've been using gh flora series according to the label and that's it, it comes out to about 1300 ppm total maximum per feeding - the 250ish ppm's that's already in the water, what are your guys avg feedings in late flower? Btw i never flushed my plants after they entered flowering, i just gave them each a gallon of nutes at maximum strength every watering and I'm assuming the excess watering took care of the possible excess nute issues...

Bend em back and forth when they are young. Lots of wind. Thats what i do and i have never had a plant fall over. Unless i fucked with it :)

I use GH Flora too but just the bloom and micro. In veg twice the amount of micro to bloom and in flower twice the amount of bloom to micro. I feed with a cal/mag every so often or epsom salts. Aside from silica the only other thing i use is pk 13/14.

I never flush my plwnts in flower either and feed every water...its hydro after all. My high point in robust flower is about 1300-1400 ppm at .7 conversion. By the end of flower im down to a very low ppm. I think sometimes if a strain has the tendancy that real high ppm will push out bananas.

While they may not be the biggest and the best my nutes are pretty cheap and make some decent buds.

I have noticed some of my taller plant can't hold themselves up anymore, they are so top heavy, I have been putting the 2 liters in gallon jugs for stability...Now that I know how tall they will get about 4 feet, I will either LST them or stop growing the tall ones...I had a bunch of them fall the other day, and it's hard to manage a bunch of tall plants.

She was foxtailing because it's hot in the closet at canopy level. It can make it a bitch to see when they're done when that happens.

I wouldn't call it bad because it is still bud growth but in my experience it's something that happens when things aren't quite right. Some strains will do it to some extent even when things are right but stress seems to increase it.

This seems to be a topic of debate WC.

I get the impression that some breeds are just wired to bud that way...

Someone pointed out, in response to someone complaining about foxtailing,
that there are really only good things about the tails themselves...not
much stem and no leaves == just more bud.

I am curious as to the consensus here.
