Feeling guilt about killing my plant baby...

So I'm starting to feel guilty about killing my plant that I've been growing. It just seems kind of sad to kill something that I brought into this world. It's almost as if it is my baby...anyone ever dealt with these emotions before? And before people say "Oh brah its just a plant it wont feel it", check this out.

This guy did research into whether or not plants have consciousness and there is a possibility that that they do.

So yeah, opinions?

Why on earth are you gonna kill your plant!?!? Are you nuts!? or are you talking about harvesting it and killing it to harvest it?

In that case..... Its actually kind of easy to deal with what you're feeling. I have had the same feelings, but look at it from a factual perspective..... We humans are a part of a life cycle where we eat plants and meat. Without plants and meat, we would not exist, correct? so basically, for us to eat plants is very normal, and any feelings of anxiety that you have which are connected to "killing" a plant, are feelings which you should accept, but try your best to realise that they are not normal for you to have because of the fact that plants grow to provide us with produce! Even if you are a super nice person, its ok to KILL plants ;)

anyway, a weed plant generally has its own life cycle and will die on its own!!! so whether or not you kill it makes little difference. Though, afaik, you're better to "harvest" (not kill) the plant, rather than let it die on its own, for purposes of quality control.
I think that letting the plant die on its own would reduce the quality of the product. (I'm a newb, so I'm not too sure of that)

I can't say I really feel guilty when I harvest (aka kill) my plants... just incredibly happy. :bigjoint:

I think we need to check ourselves over for those magical uni-testicles you mentioned in the other thread LOL! It's also possible I have an entire collection of them in one of my old purses too! So all this joy while we commit mayhem possibly is abnormal. But I'm beginning to think you and I might be the sane ones. Whether or not they find a stray testes or two when they frisk us!

Well if you killed it because it was done flowering and time for harvest... I'm sure you'll manage to find some way to help you get over your stress and anxiety and make you feel happier altogether about the situation

Yeah I'm not getting DEPRESSED or anything over this but I was expression my compassion for the plant that I worked so hard to raise only to harvest it.

Don't think of it like that, think of it as you worked so hard to raise it SO you could harvest it. If more people had your attitude towards plants there would be a lot of vegetarians dying of hunger :-P

Plants are not sentient beings. I have to assume your compassion has led you to a vegan lifestyle?

I always think, give it a good life then put it down when it gets old.
