My whole life I have been a red blooded meat eating omnivore.
I recently watched the movie Vegucated on Netflix.
It made me realize a few things. People eat way to much meat. The reason why so many Americans have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. So you say they have medicine for that. Medicine is not a cure it is a band aid. As soon as you stop taking the Medicine your problems are back.
My goal for most of my life is to maintain a life style where I don't need to take any kind of medicine and so far so good.
But I look at my parents lifestyle and they take 7+ medications on a daily basis. My pops takes 12+.
It really scares me.
The movie makes a big case for becoming a Vegan. But as far as health benefits, I have chosen to go the route of becoming a Vegetarian. After seeing how animals are being turned into machines to produce. Which they aren't and neither are we.
The amount of suffering experienced by these animals at the expense of humans.
I haven't told anyone about my choice, but it makes everything hard.
I spend a lot of time with my parents and usually eat at least one meal a day with them. Now I just hangout and tell them i'm not hungry when the steak is on the table.
Are there any other Vegetarians and or Vegans here? How did your family take it if they aren't?
