Use a tweezers, and plant your germinated seed flush with the top of the soil, Root down. You want to see the top of the seed coat.HI, What is the best way to plant germinated seeds.
can i put cling film over the pot held on with elastic rubber band, also i'm using 600w hps lamp, how high should the light be above the pots
Thanks in advance
How far from the seedling do you keep the cfl for a week or so? When is it good to kick in all your lights? 2 weeks? I know some of it might be strain dependent, but in general? Also, do you recommend a heat mat to get them going in temps of 60 or so?Agree with just planting, if they have or haven't germ'd, either way. As mentioned this method has worked really well for Mother Nature for eons Personally, I'd save the 600 watt bad boy for awhile. Use a CFL or low wattage t5, for a week or so, once they break the surface. That will let you keep the light low enough so they don't go stretch crazy, yet not risk crisping those little suckahs like Fritos At that age a little light goes a long way.
Good luck with this.

With a CFL or a T5 you can have the bulb 6 inches or lower, since they run so cool. But if you have multiple seeds/seedlings, you're going to need to share light. So don't get the light(s) so low that they don't cover the area you needed covered. I use a dome, so I have to settle for like 8 inches away (right down the middle of the tray) from the T5 and they sometimes still get too much stretch. I would like to move it even lower, if I could. How far from the seedling do you keep the cfl for a week or so? When is it good to kick in all your lights? 2 weeks? I second this 100%Use a tweezers, and plant your germinated seed flush with the top of the soil, Root down. You want to see the top of the seed coat.
You don't need to sow the seed deeper. It's all ready germinated. Your just placing the seed in the place where it would have grown all ready.
Make sure to water your soil (Moist, not wet) before you plant your germinated seed.
You want moist soil never wet or dry. use your pinky finger to test the soil a little below the surface. see if it's moist.
Some times people see dry soil on top, and water when they don't need to. allways check below the surface to see if it's moist.
You don't need to put anything over your pot to keep moisture in.
600w HPS @18" away from the plant.
bg your saying...You have 100% germination? Never had a bad seed?I have grown for many years and have never changed my methods. I just chuck seed into Mother Earth or pot and have never failed, sure it may take 5 days to brake soil but I've never planted a seed that never sprouted this way.
Yup, I just place the seed in a small hole about 1/4 inch in the ProMix...water gently...three to five days later it breaks thru the surface.I have grown for many years and have never changed my methods.
