Im sorry but ive seen sooooooo many people on here with tin foil wrapped around every single piece of equipment they have!!! There is a reason you have never once seen tin foil used in a professional grow room. 2 MAIN REASONS

1. Tin foil reflects almost no light whatsoever!!!!! I know that tin foil might look shiny and all and its cheap compared to mylar but i promise you are spreading any light with that tin foil. Paint your entire grow room the flattest white color paint you can find, this white reflects light a hell of alot better.

2.Tin foil holds a tremendous amount of heat!!!! Go cook up some chicken nugz in the oven and when you take them out, wrapp all of them in tin foil and let it sit on the counter. Come back an hour later and the chicken nuggets will still be hot....wanna know why? Tin foil locks in heat!!!!!!!!!!!

So lets go over this again, tinfoil reflects no light at all so its pointless to have it in a grow area. Not only does it not reflect light but it holds in heat which we all know inst something we want alot of in our grow room. There are absolutely NO upsides to using tin foil in a grow room. Your room looks more like its getting ready to resist alien beams from outer space then grow bud. Please stop embarrassing yourselves on the internet!!!!!

Tin foil is for cooking people, if it was of any help at all we would see it in the grow shops next to the mylar.

White is a lambert scatterer / diffuse reflector.
Diffuse = week

Mirror an highly reflective surfaces Are specular reflection
@ the right angles specular reflection has higher photon intensity and @ greater range.

Think of it this way,
if I flashed you driving with a white board you wouldn't notice.
but if I flashed you with a mirror you'd be blinded by high intensity light blocks away.
But the angle is critical!

Tin foil is a good balance of diffuse & specular
and its cheep.
If angled correctly and clean it would be better than white.
imho.

I've been advocating not using tin foil for years and yet there are still those who continue to use it, I guess they will never learn, next there are those who use mirrors, some just can not accept sound advise.

My resonating is based on physics.
Not grow guides.

Mirrors are not reflective ? Lol
Ever Look at your reflection in one?

Diffuse / Diffusion (of light) definition.
To cause light to flow in many directions.......
I like intense light.

i understand tinfoil being shitty, but why are mirrors a problem? dont use one now, but i did when i was like 20 and never had probs. grew some good NL next to that thing.

wow mirrors only do 70% of light reflection whereas mylar can go 90-95and dimpled aluminum 95+. If mirrors were better they'd use them, flat white paint would be better

Couldnt agree with you more. Saw a friend build a grow box and line the entire inside with mirrors. Said to him it made sense........Whats worst is seeing people with advanced setups still covering shit in tin foil.

I have a closet I'm about to start a DWC set up with cfl's do you really think I'm better off with gloss white paint over tinfoil?

Your reasoning should be based on science, its very easy. Take a flashlight and shine it on a mirror a piece of foil and a white wall, wall wins.

Let me see...so much "parroting" of useless info... Question for OP.... you say 'Tin Foil' holds in your heat... because of your chicken nuggets experiment ... Too Funny.... So, in a cellar with an ambient temp in the winter time of 46 f degrees.... If I used 'Tin Foil' [I prefer Aluminum foil] to cover my walls, it would hole in some of the winter warmth from the lights so it Would be warmer ?? Wow, that's a great Idea for tin foil... keeping your room warmer in the winter.... I might want to use it, for sure...

Why does there always have to be someone that goes above and beyond for a stupid reason? The argument here is the foil is useless for reflecting of light in a growing environment. And its true. Flat white paint is much better and more evenly distributed.

Will it make that much difference, in a small box grow, if you have white paint or tinfoil? Probably not in reality... It's easier to have it painted white though, as you never have to deal with ripped tin foil or taping it in the box and having it come loose etc... Main problem with tin foil is it's a fire harzard it can burn almost like paper under the right conditions...

Yes, that's it, tin foil on my wood walls will cause my room to catch on fire... lmao................. Reminds me of the "Fire Proofing" we needed to do in construction, electrical holes in wood when the wire went through the top joist into an attic, you had to use a silicon based fire barrier.... in a wood building... fill the holes with silicon, in a wood building... tin foil on walls will cause a fire... Seriously? Sorry man... that is the funniest thing I have heard in a while.... Oh yea... that fire barrier silicon sheiot I had to use, I used it for my fires when I'd go camping you know to test the fire stopping ability of the product... ha...
You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later.
or I'd rep you up....

Again, above and beyond. at least stop turning stuff around to make your arguments. The words are there just read them.
