So, after reading numerous responses to the universal question of indoor medical and recreational growers around the world, "How do I get more bud (yield)?!" I realized that while most of the responses were headed in the right direction and contained some very decent grow tips, not one contained the right answer. Yes, light has a great deal to do with yield. So does grow medium, nutrients and temperature. But the most important, the one thing that will increase your yield for sure, the one thing that most indoor SCROG/SOG growers ignore is... wait for it... volume! After 10 years of testing and experimenting with both indicas and sativas on both the East Coast and Down South, the most important lesson I have learned is that if you want more bud you need more dirt. Plain and simple, no ifs, ands, or buts... it's a fact, to get more bud you need more dirt. The larger your volume of dirt, the larger your root system, the larger your root system, the more well fed and robust the plant will be, the more well fed and robust the plant, the bigger the buds and higher the yield. The reason why, in my personal opinion, this is ignored by a lot of SCROG/SOG growers is because they have this idea that if you grow a lot of smaller plants in a smaller area you are increasing your efficiency. While that may be true for people who are trying to grow more than one strain in a limited area and still yield a decent weight per plant, that is not the case in general. I laugh when people say "If your getting .5 per watt your killing 'em", ha! I do a pound per plant easy (dried nug)with 30 gallons and one 600w dualarc, can do 2 pounds with two seeds 60 gallons of dirt and 600w dualarc... easy!
