I think she meant .243
That's too light of a caliber for my neck of the woods.Either way, I wanna steal it.
Yep bambi's gonna be an orphan...but I'm more excited just to get the chance to fire at targets and get into my zone..kinda nervous..I know my gun ain't big but neither am I. Lol my mans got the big guns..freaking loud..wowzersI'm guessing .243 - .245 isn't a standard bore size (or even a wildcat I've heard of).
What is your intended game/target - deer ?
Oh now I definitely want it. I love me some savage arms. I used to have an old savage 30-06 but fell on hard times and it was the easiest thing to sell. There is nothing wrong with questions..Id much rather someone ask than not ask and I meet the business end of the firearm because they didn't know how to properly use it, and its awesome that you are taking an interest in hunting...My fiancee will go hunting with me, but she wont hunt, she does however love to track the deer which is odd cause it looks like a scene from CSI especially when I get a double lung shot...Talk about messy. Reminds me of last year when she found the deer I shot before I did and nearly fainted when she seen it laying there. HAHA..I about had her and a deer to carry out the woods.Lmfao yep it's a .243 savage axis xp snow camo bolt action riffle with scope...my mans very smart when it comes to gun knowledge. ..he laughed at all my questions. .but I know he'll keep me safe and we'll have a great time..hey he does my yoga so I gotta learn to hunt...
Wait till you hear that .243 go off... It will be really loud.. That caliber with the barrel length = BOOM... At least there won't be hardly any kick. Wish I could be there for your first hunt...Just so I can watch you get buck fever.. My step dad still has it and pulls every shot he makes. Word of advise.. Never look at the antlers while trying to make your shot..Yep bambi's gonna be an orphan...but I'm more excited just to get the chance to fire at targets and get into my zone..kinda nervous..I know my gun ain't big but neither am I. Lol my mans got the big guns..freaking loud..wowzers
I think it would really depend on the area you would be hunting. If you are hunting an open area and need some distance, personally I would go with a 30-06 for distance, but if you were to be hunting in the woods I would get a brush gun like the 30-30. Whenever I hunt with a rifle I use a .223 which is basically 5.56, but I opted out to get it interchangeable cause I'm cheap. I've also never ran into an issue with remington firearms and it would most certainly get the job done. You also need to consider what sort of game you are going to be hunting. I usually only hunt white tails, turkey, duck and rabbit.I've been using my grandfather's Ithaca Deerslayer for literally since I started deer hunting at 20. It's been 6 years now and I've been thinking about getting a bolt-action as I want to retire his gun for personal and memorial reasons. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not a huge gun guy and I've always wanted a Springfield 1903 as I'm a huge WWI buff but its more than I want to spend. Even the Enfields are like 800 bucks. Are the Remington 700 series pretty good? I think the .308 Remington was/is used as a sniper rifle right?
Whatever I get I want in chambered kinda large. Not that I need anything more than a 5.56, but I still love the Sharps 45-70. Got to shoot one once and fuck was my should sore after! Do they make bolt-action 7.62? I feel like the Nagant wasn't chambered for that maybe?
Anyways good luck to you all this season!
Bad week for me,truck was in the shop for a funny "knock" need to replace the motor (diesel) spent an afternoon duck hunting yesterday, shot 0 ducks..packed up and headed out of the backwaters, almost got up on plane when I hit a series of logs, next thing I know my mudmotor is ripped off the back of my boat. full throttle into the muck the motor goes.after a 4 hour float we get to a spot a friend could pick us up.went back today got the boat out and back home.i started tearing the motor down to clean and get running again....well, then I noticed the hole and giant crack in the engine block! Yeah great timing...best time of the year and my big water rig is out of commission and I don't have the $$ to replace at the moment..hope your hunting is going better than mine!
Good luck!!!
