First time dwc grow, huge white widows! Please advise!!!

I am doing my first DWC grow of two White Widows (Week 4 of flowering) I started from seed. I don’t know if I vegged them too long (7 weeks), but they are HUGE, comparing my girls to the pix I have seen on here, anyway (When they were vegging, I topped and lst'd them.) My problem/question is this: Since the plants are so big, it’s getting very hard to take the pot lid/plant off to change the nute solution. I am wondering if all this shifting around will be harmful when the colas start to fill in good. They’re only going to get heavier and taller, right? They have a TON of tops all over them, some being blocked from the light by large fan leaves. But from everything I have read on here, I’m not trimming anything, just tucking them out of the way. Since I only have two plants that made it, I would like to get as much out of them as possible. I will try to post some pix of my big, beautiful girls tonight. I sure hope this isn’t “Beginner’s Luck”! Another question: Since my girls are already into flowering), is it too late to clone them? I would really like to cut down on the grow time for my next grow.

That's about how long mine veg they grow pretty decent size, but I only focus on single colas because of space. Yours are farther along than mine at the moment. They should be over their main stretch now. If they are too big just stick to one month veg cycle next time. Every grow you learn how to adjust to your grow area a little better. You can tie the plants over a little if they are climbing too high. Plants stretch a lot on in bud. Seems like everything on mother earth goes into overdrive when its ready to mate.

It is very hard to change a dwc reservoir with tall plants. You need to lift them high enough to get the roots out but keep them low enough not to hit on the ceiling. I started topping my plants and doing 2 colas just because of this. They are still pretty tall. The littler guys I keep single cola. Is there any way you can move them away from the lights when you change the res? You really dont want to touch them on a bulb and burn your colas.

I found using two smaller dwc reservoirs is easy than one big one because water weighs so damn much. And the buckets are shorter to give you a few more inches of vertical space. Also, you could make a system that cycles the water out itself and clean it really good after each harvest.

I have no experience with clones but I am sure you can't clone in bud. A clone is a copy of the mother plant if she is in bud the clone will be in bud.

Cloning in the flower stage is very possible, and no more difficult then when in veg.
It will take a bit more time for roots to show & for her to switch back to veg though.

What do you mean buy HUGE? like 9 ft tall?!?! Pictures would be lovely!

No the shifting wont be a problem, just proceed with caution.

Yes you can reveg(clone), it takes a little bit longer.

I have the same issue with White Russian getting to tall (think its the WW), i actually only veg now for 20 days and they still reach 5 feet! My first grow was getting into the light so i tried tying it down. WR doesn't bend well lol. Broke a few of the main branches and had to tie them horizontally. The plants actually thrived and was one of my best producers. This all happened in week 4-5 of flower BTW. Not recommending this technique though lol.

yeah that was my first grow, I had 2 autoflowers growing at the same time, so when they were nearing the end of there flowering cycle I started the 2 widows I had on 12/12. my current plants are cloned from one of the 2 widow strands I had going (pure widow and widow x blue cheese) however do to handing them off to a friend and his dog eating them were not entirely sure which of the original plants were growin now, though I suspect its the smaller one the widow x blue cheese based on the bud structure being the same, I still call it just white widow though as I was never really sure which plant was which anywaysIMG_2197.jpg

Ok so its picks you want huh lol. This is the first hydro grow I did about 1 year ago. White Russian vegged 30 days I believe give or take a few days under T5's and a 400HPS and it went wild lol. Topped once and then left to their own accord. These are the plants I actual had to break half way through flower and the final take was 410g. FYI i have not done that amount since.121024-2114-21.jpg The ph was all over the place! Nutes .... well had now ideal what I was doing lol. Here' present grow vegged for 20 days and at this pic 35 days flower. Its again WR and Critical Kush from Barney's thecropnov913.jpg
