DoubleJJ, I can pull 1200 foot runs in sets of 3 on 18 inches of rack through multiple wall penetrations and have the firestop sealed back up in 8 hours. Just give me a grunt to feed the cable up and manage the slack on the ground. I'll bring the sweet baby rays for the chicken, I'll be hungry when I'm done:bigjoint:

electric really isnt that difficult, generators to get started. then you can use the air, water, sun for electric.. also i have been searching for weird ways to power the grow lol. magnets seem like a really cool way to do it if i can figure it out. we could also build a giant wheel and tape a stick to finshaggys head with a bitcoin taped to the other end just out of reach. i bet itll be atleast a few weeks til he gives up running
We'll wanna do it the other way. On our island we will grow outdoor on a massive, agricultural scale (taking turns in harness to pull the plow, once the tractor dies!), and use the tons&tons of hempseed oil to run the big Diesel generators. Maybe a turbine if we can swing that!

cn, you can make it easy and get the diy turbine kits to supplement the solar as well. Should we make a self contained water cycling system to turn a wheel for power? Ya know what I mean?
Oh and btw, the copper we could use for com could also be stripped and used to wind for motors.

If we're a small society on an island, my model is S. M. Stirling's Dies the Fire series. He wrote about "what happens when the tech suddenly stops?" We will need to choose a level of tech that we can sustain. That is why folks like 420God and c2g will be invaluable. They are repositories of skills we will need to carve a living out off the elements. I'll teach the youngins about making gunpowder and sulfa.
We will need to think of storing water against weather. but as a power repository ... probably not. Much better energy density in oil fuel. Once the last light bulb goes fritzy, we will rediscover oil lamps etc.
For the people who are still alive, still alive ...

Given the amount of cannabis consumption I think we will be Lost most of the time anyway.
i watched every episode every week...it was LOST and Chinese food in a small Ohio town with one of my oldest friends and we were ripped off by the ending. i swear to JAH i will never watch another one of their shows, i was so disappointed :eyesmoke:

so it looks like we don't have a resident vintner yet. I would like to offer my skills in the art of making fine wine to this wonderful place.

you know a little alcohol will probably make the breeding be more interesting ;)

CN is multi lingual and i have demonstrated I can get my ass kicked in english, german and barrio mexican spoken with a castilian accent.
:)
That's true but we needed someone who could tell the others what you two were talking about lol.

Just as a side note this island, though hypothetical, is shaping up to be quite the utopia.

For the people who are still alive, still alive ...
But there's no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake
And the science get's done
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive..... still alive.......

Oil lamps! OIL LAMPS! Ok that's it there is an acceptable level of tech, oil lamps is not it. I'm bringing the Stanford Ph.D. EE first we are going wireless and Kinetic goes to upgrade training, but keep him away from the microwaves.

But for the time being the reason we are stealing a carrier is so we can plug into it's nuclear power plant. Oh and cause I can't get a nuclear sub. I'd like a nuclear sub with atomic.. oops wrong island. Ok yeah can someone PLEASE get me the Enterprise. I'm good with a companion battleship or two! DIRTSURFR surely HE can get me the enterprise.

I do so much and ask so little........
Thank you

Wireless is fine, but I insist on a basic copper backup ran on -48v with a dc power system to ensure com across the island in the event of a solar flare actually doing what scientists thinks it can to com and those pesky island storms and electrical interference.

I also propose drug testing to get on the island. If you are clean you are not getting on the island.
