How Quiet?

Hey guys, this question is strictly theoretical of course!

Have been researching quiet ventilation systems for an indoor grow tent, and have narrowed it down to what i think would be the optimal quiet vent system.

Tent: 1.2 x 1.2 x 2M
Fan: Ruck Can Fan 8 inch, RK200S 217/Litres per second with inbuilt speed control
Filter: PHRESH 6inch Carbon Filter

So my idea was to run the 8inch fan at 3/4 speed for minimal noise, while still meeting the recommended airflow for the 6" filter.

Basically: 6"Filter -> 6" to 8" reducer -> 8" duct -> 8" Fan -> 8" duct

Can anyone tell me if this work in real life as well as it works in my head? :D

Cheers guys!

Forgot to mention this would be for a 400w CFL setup, no air cooled tubes needed.

Also, does anyone have any experience with the RK model rucks?
I've never used them before and would love to know if the 6inch at full speed would be quieter than the 8inch at 3/4.

Save money and get a "booster" fan. I got a 6 inch booster in my 4x4 tent running a 1000watt m.h. Running cfl's that should get you by just fine. I mounted it using some plumbers tape (metal banding with holes in it). Even with that little fan I had to put wood trim horizontally between poles to keep my tent from sucking in and loosing space and proper lighting. I don't know anything about the fans your looking at, but just thought I'd share that with ya. Welcome to riu!

Thanks for the advice mate!
Are booster fans much quieter than the centrifugal inline fans? They do look a lot cheaper for same/more power, but are there any catches to them?
And thanks! Ive found it very helpful so far

GrowinDad is that a Ruck Can fan you're using? I've heard that lots of cheaper 3rd party speed controllers will increase the fan noise

Interesting. My fan us a growbright. The speed controller is AvtiveAir. It is no big to me and I normally keep the fan on full speed.
