I don't see how you will be able to pull off a SOG in just DWC. I would consider the logistics of topping off and even checking pH after you get the net on. It will be impossible to look at your roots or even change out an airstone if need be. Maybe there is something I don't know

You will be happy if you can go that route. My pump would be flat on the floor even with the barrel and never had an issue with priming. Cheap amazon pump from 2018. It's running my drip lines right now. I just got lucky though and couldn't even begin to recommend one.
