Ca depend pas de la tournure de la phrase?
I thought it was meaning weed for us...
I rode (to read) it on a 1$ bill...I grew hemp...like it was the guy (president!?)on the bill who said that!

I never asked you about your nutes!
What do you use? Or what is your favorite?
And what is the strongest weed you ever grow??
It will change from usual...what driver should I buy or what the efficiency of a cxa 1816 P4...!
    Thanks for everything...againnnnnn!...lol!

Hey LJ. I have been using recycled organic living soil ROLS, reusing the same soil for many years by reamending. There is no magic recipe but this is what I am using currently for a 50L batch of used soil:
    SupraSPL
    SupraSPL
    1000ml fresh EWC/compost/leaf mold
    300ml organic chicken litter/manure
    75ml azomite/glacial rock dust/basalt dust
    50ml north atlantic kelp meal
    50ml organic crab meal
    50ml organic alfalfa
    25ml fish bone meal
    25ml P guano
    25ml neem cake

keep moist, some airflow, let cook for 3-4 weeks before use
    Hey..
Want your opinion about a led bulb for growing.
    The LIFX 2.0.
There is the option of adjusting the color of the light. So i could adjust it from 2500K - 9000K as i want.
How does the lifx compared to new cobs out on the market?
    Thanks a lot supra...

Hello, like most LEDs for home lighting the LIFX 2.0 is very low efficiency compared to COBs , 80lm/W vs 183lm/W. The LIFX is also 10 times more expensive, $20/PAR W vs $1.75/PAR W.

Might be a cool product when used for its intended purpose though.

I am slightly suspicious of WiFi microwave radiation so I hard wired my home with ethernet, use laptops instead of tablets, 4G switched off most of the time, but I might be a bit crazy on that one LOL.

Best use my money for cubes then.
Yea its quite a cool bulb, a friend of mine got it.
Supra, I'm not asking for free information because I'm sure the time and money it took for you to understand all this cob lighting stuff wasn't cheap. I would like to get just a list of cobs and drivers for a flower room 10ftx10ftx6ft high . I do not want anything for free and will send you paypal before getting a parts list if that's acceptable? send me your consulting fee and we can get this done quick. Thank you
Hi Supra, new to this site and very impressed with your knowledge and cob light set-ups. I was hoping to Pm you but can't seem to find the function so I was hoping you could pm me when you have time. Cheers Hazy
    Hey SPL,

Could you link me a good driver for the Cree XP-E far red LEDs? Also how many LEDs can I run on the driver that you'll suggest?
    Thank you

Hey man, at this point I would run them at ~350mA to bump the efficiency up. If you need to run a large amount of them you could use HLG-120H-C350. You could run them at 500mA or 700mA and still get good efficiency but nothing compared to the COBS.

I have some XPE/XML2 type lamps laying around. I decided to power them at 150mA using candle led drivers and they are great for vegging clones or seedlings when you first pot them up.
hi could you tell me what power supply could i use to power 4 x CXA3070s
and if possible could you email me details . nath1210@googlemail.com

    You can use an HLG-185H-C1400 to power 3 CXA3070s. The HLG-185H-1400 can power 4 CXB3070s or 4 CXB3590 36V class.
hey man when you wrote "use 18 gauge stranded alarm wire" on THC Farmer did you mean 18/2 or 18/4? It looks from some of the photos in that particular thread you're using 18/4. Also shielded or unshielded? It would not matter for our purposes right?

I have used 18/2 and 18/6. They are stranded and shielded. The shielding is not important for our application as far as I know. Stranded can withstand being flexed more often while solid can carry a bit more current for a given gauge. Good luck!
I have a spare Mean Well HLG-320H-42A. What LED setup would you recommend? This is for my extra area, so any coverage / wattage will work.

    Edit: model change

Using Vero29s or CXB3590 36V, you could run 4 COBs in parallel and get ~2A You could run 5 and get 1.5A ea or 6 and get 1.275A ea. They are all good options, just depends on what level of efficiency you are looking for.
About the hlg-120-350 where did you buy it.
I plan on some vegg pannels and use vero13 with it...
But could you tell me how dim a light affect the wavelenght please.because to the eyes when you dim down the light look warmer and colder as you dim up.
So maybe for vegg it is better to run cobs at higher amp!?

I got mine from Onlinecomponets.com. Not sure of they ship to EU but Jerry may be able to get them.

Technically an LED increases in color temp as it warms up but in practice at the temps and currents we run, it should be negligible.
    Bonjour
First i hope everything is ok for you
I finish my pannels (3590 cd) because of you and a few well know members...thanks a lot
Next time I'll come to California i will bring you champagne...

Supra iv been reading ur post and still i dont quite under stand. Thus is my break down 4x7 flower room going to have a 36x5.886 sink with 3 cxb3590 35k ran by a hlg185h-c700 im also running 240 in the room i figure i will need 6 to 8 pannels question is how do i figure out par and effcience and does sound like enough light for the room please help thanks

First you find dissipation wattage which is driver current * forward voltage (see the efficiency charts thread for this info).

Then you multiply dissipation W * efficiency to get PAR W emitted.

The apply a reflector/lens/wall scatter penalty. 10% for lenses, 5% for COB reflectors, 20% for HID reflectors, additional 10% for glass cover on hoods or cool tubes, 5% for wall scatter when using any reflectors.
    S
    spidyshan
SupraSPL Then you have PAR W reaching the canopy. Divide that by the square footage the light is covering. Now you have PAR W/ft².

Multiply that by the umol/s/W for that particular color temp (see Aleshes awesome chart)

Finally, multiply that by 10.7 to convert from ft² to m² and you have PPFD averaged for that space

That's what supra told me when I asked the same question
Hello Supra. Respect from Belarus. I have a question for you. After reading posts from this forum I buy cree cxa COB's to make my diy lamp. Now I'm running 4 cxa3070 AB 3000k and 1 cxa3070 AD 5000k each run by 1.75 amp. So total watts 336. Could you please calculate me how much PPFD I get from this lamp? And what area are best to use this light? Hope you help me. PS: sorry for English.

Hey bud thank you. That setup should put down about 125 PAr W. If you used it in a 2X4 that would give you ~ 750 PPFD. Good luck!
Hi Supra. I love your stuff, so heres a question for you: I run the old SGs160 in a 2x3 ft2 area. I want more power. Should I do: 4-6 cobs and DIY, or run 3 of the new A51s over plants? I fear they wont suffice because of their rec square shaped area, and in the former case: that I wont be able to pick the right setup to blaze up my space. I want some insanely powerful penetration! Thanks for your impartiality.

If you can keep up with the feeding, you can really crank the intensity to ~1000 PPFD averaged. That is about 20 PAR W /ft² or 40 dissipationW /ft² of DIY COB.

If you ran 4 CXb3590 3500K CD bin 36V class on a Meanwell HLG-185H-C1400A that would give you just over 200W of dissipation, 56.3% efficiency, 17 PAR W ft² or 840 PPFD average, very good intensity. Good luck!

Dont worry, Supra. You have already answered my many times with your different threads. Especially the matching driver cob helped out to easily compare options. Great stuff. Im dialed in and waiting for Jerrys invoice. Im sure he is tired of me by now ! :)
Hello I have been reading tons of threads on Diy Led's shit gets confusing lol everyone says your the led god
I am wanting to start to piece together the parts for a 3x3 maybe a little bigger footprint I want to make a very nice efficient light.
can you help me put together a total parts list whatever you think is the best around 800-1000 max $$$
Please Help a broseph out lol thanks for your time
Hey supra how it going, nice to meet you mate. I just was gifted a 6 pack of Cali connections 22, did a quick search saw your one of the few that ran it. How did it turn out? Would you recommend it?

Hello, I had a pair of them. The 1st was super sweet, maybe strawberry smelling. Smoked good, good yield but maybe not as frosty as I normally look for.

The second is also sweet but super frosty, good yield, smokes great. Definitely recommend trying a pack

    Hello SupraSPL,
I received the COBS and they almost blinded me when i was checking whether they were working or not, it was just a flash and it took more than 30 minute to regain normal sight. I have a Problem though, my driver is supposed to be 36to75v 700ma and it powers 12 3w led without problem but when i run it on this COB the voltage at the cob is 90-92v what could be the reason,

I bought a new meter and it works fine, my cxb3590 now run at 68.4v @ 560ma which is 38.3w. Originally assuming i had 700ma output I decided to put three cobs per 4.5sq.ft which would be 750ish ppfd, but now i get only 620ppfd but at 114w against 150w,
    S
    spidyshan
what would be a better option
    A, 4 cobs per 4.5sq.ft cab for 830ppfd ( i would need to buy 2 more cobs)or
B, buy the HLG-185h-C700 driver and run 3 per 4.5sq.ft cab for 750 ppfd.(just one extra Driver)
I am confused because i don't see anyone using it at such odd voltage and need expert advice
