    Outdoor to Indoor

If you're actually curious, I don't mind talking about it. I thought I was being teased, so I was trying to be funny. I used lambda cyhalothrin (a variant of pyrethrin), the kind you attach to your hose. I had some left over from killing mosquitoes for the Fourth. I broke it out to knock some...

    Outdoor to Indoor

lol Right, I see how that's ridiculous. It's my first clone ever. It kinda monster cropped a bit, and didn't grow super well. I almost tossed it due to plant limits. Long story short, it survived to spring and I transferred it outdoors. It finally took off, so I kept it small, repotted it and...

    Outdoor to Indoor

A few days after repot, when any potential for shock was passed, I hit the whole thing with some horrendously nasty chemical insecticide (right before flowering started). I still did some fairly thorough inspections before I brought her inside anyway, and I will keep a good eye. I was mostly...

    Outdoor to Indoor

I want to move toward SIPs with living soil, so I repotted from the 5G to a 15G. Two weeks later, she started to flower. Moths are starting to get thick outside, so I put her in the tent yesterday. I put river rock in the bottom four inches with geofabric between it and the soil. I put the pot...

    Grow-A-Long with Dick

You should do that and make a thread. I plan to do a SIP this fall myself. Cooking some soil for clones as we speak.

    Peat Moss+ EWC (Soil Analysis)

I was just thinking about this in the shower this morning. It's like the 20+ additives we see in some organic recipes is the new bro science. The amounts, too. I put 1 Tbsp of Dolomite into a 5g pot and have had no Mg issues over two grows.

Can I do 30% top soil, 30% compost, 30% promix and 10% worm castings?

I've found it's not too common, but for the record I have been mixing 1:1:1 vermicompost, topsoil, and perlite (with splashes of Dolomite, gypsum, 4-4-4, and DE). In one pot, I left off with the DE and perlite, using vermiculite instead--and that might be my new recipe for awhile. I like how...

Anyone still in veg ? CA

Pretty sure I am. Up by the 45th, those long days are shortening quickly now. The little nubs just keep undfolding into leaves. I just don't think it's dark enough yet! It's light out enough to actuate a meter at 6am still, and it's not plant-dark until after 8pm. Soon as I get some pistil...

    Outdoor to Indoor

Yeah, I have a bit more headroom in the 5G pot for top-dressing and mulches, but I'll have it full by the time pistils are really popping. Kind of an experiment for me, so I really appreciate all the input. Sounds like the plan could work!

Storing soil in totes during gnat season.

100% agreed. I didn't know about the chitin. I need to learn more about it. I used to hate wasps and hornets. I would trap and spray them. Today, there is a large nest at the edge of my garden. It's my friend.

Storing soil in totes during gnat season.

Hey myke, I know you are in the process of making your own EWC. I don't keep any on hand myself. But I did cure a gnat problem in late flower by going out to my yard, digging down until I saw earthworm holes, then took a scoop of that and top dressed. Within two weeks, all gnats were gone. I...

    Outdoor to Indoor

That sounds really good. I didn't think about bringing it outside for some of the day. I could use that tactic depending on when exactly I want to flip and how large the plant is. Thank you very much! Are you in a dry climate at the 45th? I ask because I am interested in growing a landrace...

    Outdoor to Indoor

Anyone had any particular trouble bringing outdoor plants back inside? I have one plant, a clone made in November, that I vegged inside all through the winter. This spring I brought it outside and maintained it to keep it small, knowing I'd be bringing it back in to flower. It will be going...

    Bloody grass hoper problem

F-ing hoppers. I kill them by hand, but my plant is just in my backyard. They flee like mad if I try to squash them, but for some reason, long-bladed scissors are not in their evolutionary fear programming. If I couldn't access my plant regularly, I'd try a capsasin (hot pepper) folial spray...

Shoot, sorry. Meant to reply to myke.

Storing soil in totes during gnat season.

DE will kill pretty much any bug with an exoskeleton. Adding it to the soil might not be so bad because DE doesn't function properly as an insecticide when it's wet. It works just as well after it dries back out, though.

    soil mix in Africa

I see. If I were you, and I'm no expert, I would get a general idea based on internet research. If getting a soil test were easy and cheap, I'd do that, though. I'm kind of a sloppy grower. With limited time, I find "perfection" to be the enemy of "good enough." It's probably best to take my...
