    Quantum flux led systems inquiry

Based on their claim that it saves 65% in energy cost vs 1000w HPS it would sound like it runs around < 400 watts. It puts out 1077 umols at 12" dead center of the light, but no coverage mapping over a 4x4 or 5x5 area. They claim it will cover a 5x5 area at 18" and can replace a 1000w HPS while...

Vero 18s, 29s and a cabinet full of stanky goodness

I picket up a set of Blumat drippers to use for my flowering plants, but have been to lazy to get it set up. It would be nice to have automated system to water smaller plants too. It's probably is easier for hydro plants - in soil I think the drippers might keep stuff too wet. Could get damping...

Vero 18s, 29s and a cabinet full of stanky goodness

Day 39 pics. The flowers continue to grow and pack on weight. The SD has started to fade already even though it's got a month to go - it's a true hater plant, no matter what I do it hates it. I'm just going to let it go and see what happens. The Satori and Fire OG are doing great though. I'll be...

Put an old Cambodian temple under your plant, and you'd have the Temple of the Tree at Angkor Wat

    Think ive been led astray

In Greengenes Apache AT600 vs 1000w HPS thread, I'm certain that the LEDs in the Apache were much more efficient than anything that SK is selling, plus the Apache was pulling 200 more watts than SK's 400w light. Yet even in that side by side test, the Apache came a few ounces shy of matching the...

    My First DIY LED

Ha, when I saw the pic of the ventilation fans i thought they were speakers. You'd have built the first grow cabinet that I've seen with a built-in home audio system, lol. Your plants could groove to some Marley all day, and you'd probably have the fattest buds ever grown lol. The COBs will be a...

    Think ive been led astray

1.21 Giga covered the reasons why their LEDS are not good - just because it's Cree doesn't make it good. < 30% efficiency is not good, considering HPS is over 40% efficient. In my previous post I stated that Spectrum King claimed their 400 watt light could BEAT a 1000w HPS. This was a slight...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

You're making the rest of us look like slackers with these builds. Nice work.

    My First DIY LED

We should have a yearly award for best or most innovative DIY COB light - from the looks of it so far this build would be in the running. JavaCo's robot light, Growmaus Spyder light and the Spacebins that look like alien spacecraft come to mind too.

The Fox's Second Led grow under cxa3070

Poor Tim is documenting his grow hunkered down in a bunker while a full on organochem war rages overhead. The ladies are looking good Tim - keep the blast doors fully secured and hopefully they'll call a truce soon... :bigjoint:

    Growing Weed with Mama

Awesome, thanks for the great info. It's funny you mention the white butterflies, since I just chased one of them out of my vegetable garden yesterday. I have some spinosad left from a thrip issue in my indoor grow, but I'll have to swing by Green Acres and grab some BT this week too. I should...

    Think ive been led astray

Ha, thanks for sharing that. Spectrum King is likely maxing 30% efficiency on his lights, while claiming his 400 watt light can beat a 1000 watt HPS, and then claims that COBs are inefficient. That's some bullshit in epic proportions.

    Darth Danks 2015 season

Good looking grows, Norcal. I've been lurking in your thread for a little while, since i think I'm just down the hill from you in the eastern 'burbs of Sacto. I liked seeing the pics of the Fire OG, since I've got a cut of that growing now that's about 4-5 weeks from finish. I think I got mine...

    Growing Weed with Mama

Hi MjMama, Your plants look amazing! I've got a quick question for you. What are the primary pest concerns during flower in the Sac area? I normally grow inside, but had a couple extra plants I didn't have room to grow inside so I potted them up in 7 gal smart pots in mid-July and they are...

    Think ive been led astray

After reading some of the Spectrum King website I wanted to gouge my eyes out. We have growers on RIU building lights with CXB3590 cobs that are 65% efficient. I don't know WTF they are using in the Spectrum King lights, but I'm sure they are nowhere near 65% efficient, and are probably not even...

    The far red thread

I thought I'd share my flower initiator project that I completed tonight. The project included a 12v timer relay from Amazon ($6), 3 - 720nm Far Red Cree XTE leds and 1 Meanwell LD-700HW from Rapid LED ($20), and a 3'x2" aluminum strip from Lowes ($12) to mount the LEDs on using thermal...

Vero 18s, 29s and a cabinet full of stanky goodness

Thanks about the buds, I'm pretty happy with them so far. The growing conditions the last few days have been pretty shitty, with temps over 100 outside again. The cabinet got a little over 90 today, but the plants don't seem to mind too much as long as I keep them watered. I hope the weather...

Vero 18s, 29s and a cabinet full of stanky goodness

I had some time to kill yesterday, so I watched your videos and did some reading on rosin. I definitely want to try it once I get some buds harvested. Looks like I'll need to pick up a hair straightener, lol. What confused me was how to 'consume' the rosin once you've made it. I didn't...

200w chinese cob lights, Can I upgrade these? Also need some build advice

Not sure what the efficiency of the driver is, but it seems like a CXB3590 72v cob might run run pretty efficiently on that driver at 520ma. Not sure if the 3590 would fit on the existing heatsink, but if he removed the old cob and sanded the crud off it, it might work (assuming it fits).
