Awesome thread btw @BOBBY_G and thanks to all contributors for all the testing :bigjoint:

PAR test of cree vs citi vs cutter

I feel like I still want to add some deep reds at 660nm at some point, but otherwise I really like the colour balance on these high CRI offerings. I think there's a lot to be said for really being able to see and monitor your plants health when under high CRI lighting and in turn to be more in...

PAR test of cree vs citi vs cutter

I agree. I just got a 3000K 90CRI 1818 to play around with and I think I like it. I only have the one right now, and it's been added to a CXB3590 string so I won't really be able to do a side by side. It's become the centre COB of an X layout so hopefully it will add some extra far reds to my...

    LED grow light help please!

For such a limited height I would go with the Samsung hard strips - they are awesome and they give off such a nice even diffuse light. Buy a few, run them fairly soft at 700mA and you can almost have the plants touching them without burning. Like this you can maximise your use of the space. good...

Replacing 2000 watts of HPS with 1000 watts COB LEDs

Isn't it cool to see how well the plants respond to COB lights? My plants are the happiest they have ever been under any kind of lighting since I switched. Orca film is amazing stuff!

    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

Bahahaha this made me laugh out loud.

    Are cobs worth it?

This is a really cool idea - basically what I do manually everyday in my hot climate lol

    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

You do seem to grow good plants so kudos for that. You should stick to grow advice and lay off the physics though bro ;)

    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

So what about the 1000W? I am curious to hear how your flawed logic accounts for this?

    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

And why exactly do you think 600W HIDs grow more efficiently than 1000W or 400W? Could it be because this is the most efficient size lamp? Well my friend it is by exactly the same token that LED grows more efficiently than HPS. It's really not hard to understand.

    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

I try to be kind wherever possible, but I understand your frustration with this guy. The irony is that he literally just grew a whole bunch of good weed with the suncloak which is literally the antithesis of the HID and perfectly demonstrates how multiple low power light sources can be effective.

    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

I do understand what you're trying to say. I understand inverse square law. However multiple sources of light and reflection etc mean that inverse square law does not really apply in the same way in the growroom. I'm sorry that you feel like people are not reading your comments... I feel like...

    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

Just let it go man. People are growing dank with less electricity, less heat, and less stress. Whether you can see it or not, times they are a changing. There are still a few circumstances whereby HID makes sense, but it is old technology and will become obsolete in time. LED is the new king and...

    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

SO how do you explain the suncloak? Each of those diodes puts out a tiny amount of radiation, but cumulatively it is enough light to flower.

    samsung hard strips

The space is about 22" square and shy of 36" high. I'm even running them dimmed down to about 25W each right now since it's 30C outside these days. Ahh of course. thanks :bigjoint:

    samsung hard strips

Wow that is really interesting stuff - thanks for taking the time to do that man! I did some very basic math in my head before I decided to go for these, but it's nice to see you confirm my initial findings - these appear pretty legit. One thing I don't understand is how to calculate the...

    samsung hard strips

So my 700mA driver just turned up and I've got the new lights installed in the veg space. The L09s are running cooler now at 45C with 30C ambient. The light is really nice and diffuse with all the light sources spread out... I am digging this setup for vegging a small space. Seems like a great...
