I went with 2 of these 5000k to replace a single 3590 @1.4A for a small veg space. I figure I'll have better spread and be able to veg bigger plants in the limited space, and hopefully the girls will like the 5000k compared to the 3500K that's in there now. cheers

Hehe you are quite right sir! took me a minute to figure that out lol. #stonerlogic Anyway yes I'm getting 65C on the test point with the heatsink hanging vertical. I do not plan to run them like this longterm... just waiting on my 700mA driver for a pair of these... they should be right around...

experimental Closet grow with a 50w RGB flood light

Find some full spectrum white LEDs if you can.... blurple (blue and red) is kinda old tech and not very well designed for growing. If you want screw in LED bulbs there is a discussion here that might help you... https://www.rollitup.org/t/got-my-ge-brightstiks.896869/page-14 Good luck

84.43cm2 x approx 56cm length gives me 4728cm2... that should be good for about 42W according to Supra's 110cm2 per W guide. Maybe u muddled cm and inches in your calculation? Anyway it's running hot, but it's manageable. It is only slightly hotter than a CXB3590 on a 140mm passive pin fin next...

I just tried an L09 on a (non-dimmable) 1.4A COB string. The LED strip and the 22" HSUSA 2.09 inch heatsink with no TIM both got pretty hot after a few minutes and I lost my nerve. I guess there must be pretty good contact for the heatsink to get so hot. I need to do this again and take some...

experimental Closet grow with a 50w RGB flood light

Ok but I'm just saying you're probably not gonna get great results from that particular light. It appears as though that is a light designed for novelty value more than anything. I hope you can prove me wrong, but I fear that you are going to struggle to grow any decent quality cannabis under...

experimental Closet grow with a 50w RGB flood light

These lights are not designed for growing plants. You might be able to harvest something from them, but you will be up against it. If you can, you should look into getting at least 1 white COB LED in there and you can use thing to supplement it. Good luck.

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

If there's any way you can afford it go for 4 COBs for that size area... You will be glad you did.

That's interesting to hear. I actually just received my Samsung Influx L09s just now. Having just run out of TIM I decided to try mount one on a heatsink with cable ties (really tightly held down) and hook it up to a COB string that had space left @1050mA. I ran it dimmed to about 500mA for a...

Do you need a ton of TIM to mount these strips to heatsinks? Or is the thermal contact less critical because of the much larger surface area compared to a COB? cheers

On/Off functin for meanwell HLG style drivers using dimming and arduino

I personally think wifi and a smartphone app would be very useful.

    3x2' Four 36v CXB3590 @1400mA

I would personally put 6 plants in there - 1sq foot each. But that's just me. Cheers

DIY kit sounds great - if the price is right I will defs buy one.

    A Gram Per Watt? How?

Like many have said... GPW is a fairly meaningless figure in reality. It can help an individual measure his own progress over time, but cannot really be used to compare to others' grows because it only considers flower wattage. A much better gauge of a grow's efficiency is Grams per Kilowatt...

Let there be white: mc130p's horticultural adventure continues

Yeah plants look good under 3500K I agree. I am really starting to see the appeal of high CRI chips for future builds though. The light just looks really natural.

Let there be white: mc130p's horticultural adventure continues

I just love the colour of the light in your tent @mc130p, that induction lamp gives such a nice rendition of all the shades of green - I bet it must really help to keep your plants happy when you can see their colours so accurately. I bet that light is pretty high CRI right? Keep up the great work!

I'm leaning towards an HLG-80H-C700 or HLG-120H-C1050 to run two of the L09 for a small veg space, although I'd rather find an alternative driver cos they are not cheap.
