Medium to replace Rockwool for recirculating waste

My problem with clay as a stand alone media is, would it retain enough water in a roots in pot environment and would it not just fall apart when potting up?

Medium to replace Rockwool for recirculating waste

Hello all, I am running a recirculating system (recirculating waste) top fed for 15 minutes 3 times per day. My medium is rockwool croutons (mini cubes). The plants love the croutons but unfortunately I don't. I am super sensitive to rockwool it drives me mad around eyes, chest and hands even...

I gotta lose those waterfalls. HELP!

No mate I haven't grown the same strain in coco but some strains were affected more than others. I have started to feed much higher this run, starting off higher whilst in veg to get them used to it. I also been using a drill pump to make sure I get all of the stuff from the bottom of the tubs...

I gotta lose those waterfalls. HELP!

This seems to be a very common problem for SOME people growing in RDWC the forums are full of it. Have a look at this thread especially the last few pages. I jumped ship with RDWC for exactly the same problem...

Reoccurring problems every grow WOODY J (UK) to the rescue

Hope you don't mind a quick question DW. I have just added 1/3 strength to my holding tank which is more or less the same size as my system so it is handy. When I make up the 1/3 strength batch into my 200 litre holding tank do I also add silica acid and root stimulator and Cal/mag @ 1/3...

    building an rdwc

I have never had a leak even on angled tub walls but I used unseals because of the angle. Uniseals are OK as long as the material of the tub is thick and strong. If your tub material is quite flexible and not brittle there should be enough give to achieve an even seal with your O ring. Maybe...

    building an rdwc

I can see it is to late now but keep an eye out where the red arrow is as your roots will block here. I did exactly the same, should have put a 2" T and carried the 2 " pipe along for a ft or so then reduced, The pull from your water pump will cause this, I had to prune the offending roots a...

    building an rdwc

Looking good mate. In all truth running a 4 pot system with a nice fall back into the epicenter (like you have) you may not either need or want airstones.

I would most defiantly agree with this. I gave up on RDWC after 3 grows so maybe not the best person to get involved.

    bodhi seeds

Hello all, I am looking for a short bushy high yield Bodhi as I am restricted for height. I sort of semi scrog just to get them where I want but don't want to be caught out with a stretchy type. Maybe I should reword this, any Bodhi that doesn't stretch to much? I have some SSDD and Hashplant...

I'm with you now DW, many thanks. Luckily for me my water comes out of the tap (faucet) @100ppm or less, occasionally won't even register. I live out in the sticks, UK.

Reoccurring problems every grow WOODY J (UK) to the rescue

I am just about to put some plants into flower and will; be following your advice given in my thread. I am just thinking about the 33% add back and would be grateful if you could advise. I just need to know the reasoning. If I fill my 200 liter res at an optimum nutrient strength for say, week...

Thanks again Dr I am also coming up 61 (in May) but only planted my first seed 3 years ago so have a lot of catching up to do. Unfortunately we can't get Calimagic in the UK or any other water soluble Calcium Carbonate for Hydro. I did notice some contain calcium oxide rather than nitrate...
