Hey old farts..how many over 50 yrs?

I usually win this contest. Bought my first "deuce" in Detroit in 1964. Back then a deuce was as much bud as would fit into a wooden match box and cost $2. Usually came wrapped up in tin foil. BigSteve.

    first time grower!

I'll bet you forgot to place the paper towel, etc. into an air-tight container to germinate. Good luck, BigSteve.

    Taproot pointing UPWARDS?

I use the paper towel method and wait until the taproot is an inch long before putting her into dirt. Most important thing when first putting a new seedling into dirt : 1) make sure the soil is moist, and 2) have the root pointing down. Try leaving them in the paper towel an extra day and you...

    lights

Might not be the lights. If you put a new seedling into a large pot it will seem like forever before you see much greenery growing. Reason is that plants new to dirt first send out roots to keep the plant stable. After the roots reach the inside of the pot they will start to grow aboveground. So...

    Dyna-Gro BLOOM

I've been happily using Dyna-Gro nutes for years. I use the 3-12-6 formulation and use 1 tsp. per gallon of water for my flowering plants. Good luck, BigSteve.

Transplanting hydro to soil. Can I break roots to remove perlite?

Get a 5-gallon bucket and half-fill with warm water. After removing plant from hydro set-up gently swirl the plants' roots in the water until rootball is up to your standards. Good luck, BigSteve.

Taking a plant back into veg stage? Is it possible?

Many of us larger growers will administer a topping or FIM (Fuck I Missed) when the plants are putting on their first big growth spurt. Topping is s straight cut that removes the entire first bud. FIMing means don't try this while testing product. The idea is that those early top buds determine...

Taking a plant back into veg stage? Is it possible?

Notice that in the second picture that the plant's large fan leaves aren't as wide as the pot. As the roots grow about the same speed as the greenery you can pretty well tell that your roots haven't quite "bottomed out" yet. AFTER the roots hit the inside walls of the pot you will see rapid...

    New 3x3 perpetual......

I've found I need 4 square feet of floor space for flowering every square foot of plants vegging. Almost 10 years of perpetual grow, eh? Good luck, BigSteve.

Does this curing setup look alright?

I'd guess 4-6 oz. Good luck, BigSteve.

how do i order my seeds

Say the address of your local post office is 1200 Fifth St and your PO box # is 2211. I would write my address as: Joe Blow 1200 5th St. Apt. 2211. Slapdiddle, KY. 12345. Good luck, BigSteve. If you go Attitude write in "420" for code number and get 10% off. Also, use Attitude's Stealth...

    Miracle grow perlite bad?

Been using MG Potting Mix for decades. Has 10+% perlite and needs no additional perlite, nutes or anything. FF is easier to work with (fewer chunks) but costs more. Good luck, BigSteve.

    Noob? Is this fairly common

You did a textbook topping and got lucky with 3 main colas. Topping most always produces 2 main colas and FIMming will produce 2-4 tops. Good luck, BigSteve.

    Seedlings always dying

"All seeds germinate in a paper towel, then when i plant them in the soil,..." Here is where a lot of folks have problems. I use the paper towel method to germinate and make sure the first soil is wet when the seedlings first go to dirt. I keep the seedcap just above the dirt and press the soil...

Hello! Newbie to the forum and growing.

I've got a perpetual grow going and I have found that I need just about 4 square feet of floor space to flower for every square foot of veg space. Good luck, BigSteve.

    600w air cooled HPS

You can warm up your growing area by enclosing it. I've seen guys drape a sheet or 2 over the bulb and make a sort-of lean-to tent where it should be significantly warmer inside the sheet tent. Generally, venting is not a problem with cooler temps. Good luck, BigSteve.

Going For MJ Card in Michigan? - Check Here.

It's just a small thing but may help someone. They made getting a MJ card a lot more complicated now and as a result we have to fill out a form, log 10 days of pain levels and get interviewed by a MD. One of the questions asked is "how much cannabis do you smoke weekly?" I answered about an...

    (Almost) Nine Years @ RIU!

I remember early on there was a lot of emphasis on education and new technologies. We saw a lot of youtube how-to videos and it seems that participation back then was more active. We were always filling out polls or voting on procedure or light questions. I'm seeing a lot of "experts" answering...

    Buds on fan leaves?

I've seen the condition a couple of times and make a point of keeping those budlets separate from the main harvest. At first I was afraid of somehow contaminating the rest of the product, then I realized I liked the smoke better. I compare the budlet buds as being more like product from an auto...

    (Almost) Nine Years @ RIU!

I'm just a week shy of celebrating 9 years here at the forums. Thought it would be a good time to toss out some tidbits I have accumulated......... *Changed the way I germinate seeds with paper towels. Now I use 4 layers of pt under the beans and just one layer on top. I'm convinced I'm losing...
