    Harvest question: drying

I use 16 x 25 x 1 inch furnace filters. About $1/per at hardware store. I put a single layer of paper towel on the filter before placing the bud on the paper towel. The filter does a pretty good job of letting the bud dry uniformly. I still flip them one time after 2-3 days, but, that is because...

Is it ok to move lights from middle of plant to the top?

Those white hairs are pistils and you will want to harvest when most of them are orange to brown. Every time you move the lights the plants will try to follow. The plant will swivel in orientation to face the light source. People write in asking why their mid-leaves are getting a swirly look...

    Harvest question: drying

I don't understand why people think they should hang up their plants. Once a branch/bud is separated from the mother plant there is no movement within that part. I read that some think the resin travels to the branch ends when hung up. Wrong. I suggest you harvest and trim at the same time...

    Seeds onliner

There are seed growers and seed sellers. Attitude is a distributor and doesn't have a house brand. They just sell seeds from the actual producers. So, if you get a strain you like bounce around the sellers to find a better price. Good luck, BigSteve.

    New Grower Needs Some Help

1st Question -- Why go with a tent?? It is difficult to maneuver in a tent, makes it tough to move plants. Also, you will have more heat problems in a tent. My buddy is in a tent and has to keep 1-2 mini-fans on each plant. I understand if its a function of security, otherwise tents are a...

    Harvested dry crumbly buds

Sounds like you dried and skipped the curing step. Not to worry, you can re-hydrate your bud. Here's how: Put your crispy bud in a large sealable container. A Tupperware bowl w/lid or large glass jar are both good. Cut down a solo cup so it is just 2 to 3 inches tall. Take a paper towel and...

    when does veg actuall start

Seedlings new to dirt spend almost all their energy putting down a root mass to support the plant. That's why the first couple of weeks you see little growth above ground. When the roots grow to the inside of the pot that tells the plant to slow down on root growth and start producing greenery...

    Size of pots.....

I'd go with the 16 liter pots, 4+ gallons, to finish. The 20 or 40 liter pots will increase your yield but take longer to finish. Especially the largest pots will take forever for the roots to grow out. Good luck, BigSteve.

    Forced Early Harvest

Looks to me like they are about ready for harvest. I would harvest completely when you chop them down. You want to avoid cutting and hanging plants without trimming as you go. It is much more tedious to trim branches that have been just hanging for a while. Reason is that the small sugar leaves...

    Power outage during flower

One missed light cycle during flowering shouldn't have much of an impact on your grow. Only thing I would note is that you may not need to water as much as plants use more water when the lights are on. Good luck, BigSteve.

    Seedlings growing very slowly...

Start in small pots. Slow growing seedlings are usually the result of doing the first transplanting into a big pot. Seedlings first into dirt won't grow much above ground until the roots reach the inside of the pot. By TP'ing into a larger pot you will take longer for the roots to grow to the...

Drugs and Rock and Roll - Any Personal stories?

"The whole whites wanting street cred sort of came up again with Eminen from the Motor City." We got a smart group here, eh? I didn't make that Eminem connection. BigSteve.

Drugs and Rock and Roll - Any Personal stories?

I was around for the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti White Panther doings around 1968-71. Got to hang around "the house" on State St. when the MC5 was jamming. Was at the Grande Ballroom when Janis and Big Brother recorded their first album. That was the night I bought a couple tabs of acid from Arthur...

Favorite Song to Listen To Stoned?

"Monkey Man" from the Stones Let It Bleed album. Also, I was at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit where part of Janis Joplin's Big Brother recorded their first album. When Janis cuts loose I grab the armrest and just hold on. BigSteve.

How do you store your stash?

Mold is the biggest problem for long-term product storage. And mold is a factor of the product having too much moisture in it before storage. So check your stash every week or so to make sure you have removed enough moisture. I keep mine in glass jars where I don't even have to open the jars. By...

    HID light bulb question

"a lot of people switch in a new bulb every harvest." Why? Our bulbs don't wear out. They burn out. They either are working or not. Changing bulbs that are still working is increasing the chances of blowing a bulb. Nothing wears out a bulb faster than repeated clicking on and off. My 1000W HPS...

    When to take first clone?

There is a few things that we can tweak to try to make better moms. First is placement under the (veg) light. The purpose of a mom is to provide cuttings used as clones. Try to place her directly under the light. Don't be afraid to use a "booster seat" to put her closer to the light if you have...
