I don't think that is completely fair. Instead of believing the efficiency hype, compare 600W of HPS to 600W of quantum boards. Even only considering the more easily manageable heat output is enough of a reason to use led, but it'll pretty much guarantee better yield. It's also worth considering...

Adding more perlite will make it hold less water and allow for more air in your mix. @Axle4worc makes a good point too, fabric or air pots could be a great solution to your issue.

If you want them to dry out faster, why not add some perlite to your soil mix? It may be just the solution you need, as it'd probably improve growth as well. Keep the pots big, give those roots space to grow!
