EFs R&DiY LED, Circuits, Arduino, Hot Peppers and more thread

I don't think I'm going to drill them, at least not at first. I can solder the CXA's and kapton tape them on like @SupraSPL has done with his and the others he has made. These heatsinks were designed for actively cooling around 150 watts with a standard 1000rpm 140mm pc fan, I went overboard and...

EFs R&DiY LED, Circuits, Arduino, Hot Peppers and more thread

Well I stuck wet/dry sandpaper to a glass piece I use as a sanding block, took my time and go thru the grits. I was only sanding in one direction (no back and forth) and then switching directions ninety degrees with each grit. I realize that the whole surface will not be perfectly flat as a...

EFs R&DiY LED, Circuits, Arduino, Hot Peppers and more thread

Look what arrived today :hump: That's six feet of the 5.886" profile from heatsinkUSA. I lapped it to 1000 Grit US and sent them out to have them anodized black. $90 for the anodizing, worth it in my opinion. After around 12 hours of lapping I wanted to protect the surface from scratches...

A51 RW-150 or ONYX bloom? Hmmm.....

10 degrees? My 2 rw-150's in a 3x3 tent is 1 degree above ambient, sometimes the tent is a degree cooler than the room its in. It has a 6" td-silent fan running on low for exhaust. With hid I needed air conditioning 8 months of the year, I won't be going back to that.

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

If the 2700k Z4 (top) and the 3000k Z4 (mid top) cxa3070 are both pumping out (around) the same lumens, how is the 2700k electrically less efficient than the 3000k? When you started this thread it was based on 3000k Z2's. The 2700k Z4's should actually be more efficient than those right? or am...

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

I have been using the 3000K @ 900mA for veg and clone, they like it more than the t5's and stretch is only slightly more than the Cree XM-L2 U2 4C. I do have to keep them farther away (12") compared to the t5/xml2 (2-3") or else the leaves curl up a bit. I would dim it down but I'm still using...

EFs R&DiY LED, Circuits, Arduino, Hot Peppers and more thread

Well I took this picture on july 27th after the plant had recovered from being outside in soil then transferred to indoor DWC with 20 watts of LED. It has been 11 days since then and the thing is doing great, I topped and trained it to stay low so I can keep it close to the XML2's. It is a...

https://www.rollitup.org/t/cree-60w-5000k-for-clones.835225/page-2#post-10646575 If your going to remove the covers stay away from the flood/spot version. As you can see from the link I posted the bulbs are better, if you remove the cover it looses the spot/flood aspect. I thought the leds...

    Another Cree CXA3070 DIY Thread

@mc130p you can just make your own, if you can do the cxa's you can do the stars. You can get 730nm leds on stars from a few places now (steves, cutter, mouser, newark) either single die or 4 in series on one chip. edit: @churchhaze beat me by 10 seconds, I notice there is a LZ4-40R300 and a...

I thought you were pointing out GG said something about the price (or value) that maybe I missed. Unless he did, you bringing him into the conversation when he didn't mention the price at all is an invalid argument. It is an overpriced unit for the value you get compared to other options out...

@PetFlora Where does GG mention price? maybe one of his vids? I do however see mention of the heat problem again... not a sign of a well designed product.

    Looking for a driver

The DA version has to be dimmed with push button interface built into the driver, the non DA version can be dimmed with an external pot or by PWM. So the non DA version you can dim multiple drivers at once or with a automatic light controller eg. fade the lights on in the morning and out at...

    Looking for a driver

That is an interesting driver, to bad it won't run off 110v. Very versatile, I like how you can select the output current with the dip switches for different setups. According to the spec sheet, it runs most efficient at 100% and I'm pretty sure Mean Well drivers are designed to run safely at...

    Led Users Unite!

^^^^ 2 lights, 2 plants; half the tent each. If one gets taller than the other you can raise a light as needed, also make sure they have similar finishing times so you can harvest close together.

    Led Users Unite!

@BDOGKush I would only do one, a single scrogged plant can easily fill a 4x4' (16 ft²) with little training. A 2.5x2.5 (6.25 ft²) would get over packed very fast with alot of sativa/hybrid stains if you veg too long. I have seen thick forests over 4 feet tall fill 3x3' tents with less than 25...

    Looking for a driver

Thanks goud. It works just as you say though without it I can dim to about 5% before the light cuts out. I will try with a 5k resistor next time I have one on hand. You can also get a pot with built in switch at zero position like this.
