    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

You can't show me because it doesnt exist. Thats my point. I know all I need to know about led, its not as good as DE hps. Might be an led section, but the question involved DE which is my area of expertise.. You shouldn't get so upset over what people say on the internet.

    Dimmable ballast help

You should be fine. Just do the hand test and make sure your hand isn't too hot at the canopy level.

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

Theres a reason everyone is using them, they are not just "ridiculously" bright. They work. Show me a led that is doing 2+ over a 4x4 area

    Dimmable ballast help

You don't need to dim if you don't want to. I have 1000w DE dim able ballast and I only dim them when I first put clones in the room so the clones can get adjusted to the strong light. My ballasts only dim to 600 though. You should be fine just going full blast from the start and not worrying...

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

If they could do that, everyone would fill their warehouses with them

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

And I will say it again, I still doubt that even if he cranks it up or what ever, the yield is still not going to be that of a DE hps. No matter what led it is or who is growing it. Show me a led room that is getting 2+ per 4x4 area

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

Sacrifice total yield and quality? Doesn't make any sense to me regardless if gpw is better.

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

Not once in this thread was it mentioned that this is his first run and is use to hps. Regardless I would not sacrifice total yield for gpw. I work with a dispensary currently, all of their top shelf is grown by hps. Its a larger dispensary too with a large selection and lots of vendors trying...

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

Thats what I said, if you do I will be impressed. But I regularly get 2.25 per 1000 off my set up and have done 2.5 a few times. So do the math on that. Have you gotten a pound per 400w yet? You said it was your goal. I will seriously be impressed if you get a pound per 400w. But like I also...

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

Im all about production. I want to get the most out of the space I have regardless of the amount of watts used. Which is why I use 1000w DE.

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

Well if he pulls 4.5# out of that tent I will be impressed and consider trying LED on a small scale. 4x8 should be 4# minimum

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

How much does 2 of those cobs cost?

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

Initial start up cost is what I was saying

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

So you need twice as many cobs to cover the same space as 1 1000w DE. Thats a big factor as well

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

Yea what footprint are the cobs suppose to be put over. I run my ac/de over 4x4 but I know a lot of people wh run their DE over 5x5

    Are LED's practical for a grow room? (24 ft x 12 ft)

So you have to use almost twice as many as DE. I use a 4x4 foot print but a lot of people go 5x5 with DE. At 5x5 thats almost twice as many lights needed
